2005 BMW 6 series. Paid cash for it two years ago and it’s like I still have a monthly nut for all the shite that goes wrong. It drives great and is fast as hell and I love it but it’s like being in an abusive relationship.

Yes.

Three oil changes, oil filter, coolant flush and fill and transmission flush and fill for $132.00???

Yes and no. I don't flush the transmission. I drain and fill.

$63 for 3 Jugs of Mobil1 0w40
$15 for 1.5 mobil1 oil filters
$20 for 1 jug of Valvoline full syn trans fluid
$5 for five gallons of distilled water
$10 for a single jug of coolant
$8.50 For an OEM Toyota air filter
$10.50 for the free leftover 0w40 from the other cars

quote:

Is 10k oil and 20k filter interval what Toyota recommends for that year and model?

I know you know it's not. But they also consider coolant and trans fluid to be lifetime fills. If I maintained it according to their specs, I would spend $5.50 on oil (I shop the AutoZone clearance every January) and $4 per oil filter per oil change every 5k.

So $60 bucks for the same period if I follow the manufacturer and shop the sale. $96 if I don't pay attention to price.

According to oil analyses, I could push the 0w40 oil changes to 15-20k if I wanted to. TBN still very strong at 10k.

I change it at 10k because oil is cheap and that's just about the mileage it starts to develop any sort of color. I change the filter at 20k because the unit has full skid plates and it takes an extra 20 minutes to remove the Diff skid.

If anyone has a Toyota 3.4, those motors LOVE mobil1 0w40. And the Aisin transmissions love the Valvoline full syn.

Well, duh.

A high performance car costs more to drive than a refrigerator.

did anyone mention that the parts for those vehicles cost more? So it's going to cost more to fix them?

Here's a sucker.

Did you look at which vehicles last the longest?

That extra money doesn't buy you anything.

But look at the repair costs on Land Rovers.

How does that work?

Yes, I knew the oil change interval was not the recommended. My point was that any vehicle would have similar numbers to yours if the same schedule was followed. My cheap Nissan would be even less because it probably holds less oil.

And put out a little more effort to change your oil filter you slacker!

I used to have one in high school. I didn’t care. My parents paid for the repairs.
