The question is whether the right thing will happen, these people will get to work and live frivolously until the end of their days, or if the politicians will capitalize on this sizable voting block by pandering to them and making those of us who saved wisely pay for the others. I would tend to believe the latter.

I will go Red Dawn if those assholes steal my retirement money to fund the idiots who were too busy taking vacations every 5 minutes to create an IRA.

The fact that politicians have hefty retirements is why you don't need to worry.

No....no there isn’t.

You don’t have to be a financial advisor to have a good 401k allocation.

Alot of people are clueless in their 401k. Many options are pure horseshite too, hence the plethora of 401k lawsuits in the past few years.

I know people that live month to month.

They have houses, cars, plenty of dining, vacations, etc

I do both these and still have $20,000 in savings with 28 years to go to retirement

$50+ meals for 2. $100+ meals for family of 4.

This is my one weakness. I work year round and don't vacation, so my one splurge is eating out with friends and drinks a couple nights a week. If I don't have at least one $100 tab every two weeks, something went wrong.

A shocking 21 percent of Americans have nothing at all saved for the future, and another 10 percent have less than $5,000 tucked away, the study finds.

I was supposed to save money for my retirement?

I thought the Government was going to take are of me?

That's not how that works. They'll just exempt themselves and do it anyway.

There’s no excuse for a third of the population to have such minimal savings. We need personal finance taught at the high school level at a minimum.

unemployment is low but the cost of living increases are far behind wage growth. people can't afford to save much.

Honestly, I fully expect my Roth IRA to grow steadily until I am 65, when Uncle Sam will take it out and hand it away to people who contribute nothing but 9 children and obesity and trashy tattoos

nobody becomes president for the money. the major motivators are ego and ideology.

Trump needs it purely for his ego, he doesn't even have an ideology.
