These winter events always remind me why I won't live in a house with an electric stove/oven.

Trying to decide on if I should snag a generator and a couple extra heaters.

The doomcasting is out of control. You would think the apocalypse was coming

Unfortunately my entire kitchen is electric. I really need to invest in a blackstone

The truth is forecasting winter weather five days out is a lot of guessing. Sure you make people aware of the potential but there is a whole lot of overreaction. At this point I’ll expect a cold rain and wait until Thursday night for someone to say otherwise.

As good as Spann has been for central Alabama, winter weather has left him with a lot of egg on his face, especially 2014.

That is a disgusting run for me in Southwest Miss. Nearly 48 hours of freezing rain

The latest NWS blend has totals approaching a foot across the OKC metro area!

If trends continue, we could be looking at a historic storm this weekend!

I'd love to work in a warm nose.

explain it better than me

Lots of cold dry air comes at us from the W/NW while lots of warm wet air comes at us from the S. Predicting the exact dynamic linear zone of intersection is difficult other than to say that it will sweep across Louisiana.

That run of the GFS keeps the freezing rain just to my south.

It instead gives me nearly a foot and a half of snow.

ETA: Scratch that. I forgot to change to the latest run. 12z still keeps the ice south, but has less snow.

Yeah, the cold lingers with a lot of places not getting much above freezing until Friday. Then, if there is a major ice storm the infrastructure damage will take a while to fix.
