Joel Meyers was the much better choice but I’m glad he didn’t get plucked from the Pelicans.

Let's be real. Deuce is as good at this as he's ever going to be. Zach is doing better than I thought with flow and content, but he better find some passion in his delivery or this experiment won't last long.

He already lacks passion calling his first scrimmage? When was this an official experiment?

Does anybody really listen to radio games anymore? I get if you work or travel on Sundays, but that’s gotta be less than 1% of the fanbase.

If it wouldn’t be for retro NFL highlights, enhanced with local radio PbP, I haven’t heard Jim Henderson in a live game since the beginning of the Payton era.

And I don’t turn on the radio because of the delay between radio and the tv broadcast, so I never hear the games called on radio.

Yup. That's the deal with me too. Hendersons calls in 2009 are iconic.

I don't think ZS has that in him.

Like Lester just said, think of big plays during the Payton era and you're probably going to remember Henderson's call as the soundtrack. Only play I initially think of the TV call is Tirico calling Gleason's block.

There’s no reason to be nice about this hire. It’s unreal. He needed this scrimmage to call a live game-like situation and he was awful. The pressure only goes way up from here. It reminded me of scanning the channels and catching that Teurlings Catholic radio call on Friday nights.

Scott Walker was in the running. I think he would do well with his TV experience.

And honestly the best part of that call was the 20-something seconds when he did not say a thing. He's good enough to know when to let the moment make itself.

This is exactly my feel. This team has a good chance of having a lot of iconic radio call moments this year. Zach may one day be a award winning announcer. But I didn't want him cutting his teeth in such a big year for the team.
