Yet another botched call that went mostly unnoticed: Illegal man downfield on first drive

The refs appeared to have botched the call on the Saints' opening drive vs MIN. Cesar Ruiz was ruled an ineligible man downfield on a screen to Mark Ingram, but Ingram caught the ball behind the line of scrimmage, making Ruiz legal. Same scenario on MIN's 1st TD & refs let it go.

something about us and MN just seems odd - like they are paying us pack for injuring Favre in 2009

Refs were horrible. That last Vikings drive was no different than the TB game.

I will never understand, for all plays, why there isn't some immediate secondary review for things like this that have a huge negative impact.

The technology is too good. I know people will say, it'll slow the game down, blah blah blah, but the announcers and the former ref on call can provide a relatively immediate analysis on the legitimacy of a call.

I'd rather it be right, than say, eh, rules don't allow it to be looked at.

I immediately thought this live but gaslit myself thinking "yeah if that were the rule they would have said so"

CFL does this and gets it right every time. CFL is a better run league

It’s because the NFL wants it this way. They cannot control it if things are on the up and up. Another week of what ifs like always, like a Saints fan.

Because then the NFL can’t manipulate the games as easily

That was the right call against the saints but the Vikings should’ve been hit with the same penalty

I got to say that this year feels more scripted than WWF wrestling....reminds me of popular television. It's so outrageous it can't be real. The conspiracy theorist is starting to unzip my flesh to daylight in reality.

I don't think Duncan knows the rules.

In college, a catch behind the line eliminates the possibility of illegal man downfield. But, in the NFL, that's not the case.

He's wrong.
