New Orleans Saints wide receiver Keith Kirkwood will not be activated from injured reserve this season, a source informed of the situation told The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate.

Kirkwood sustained a hamstring injury in warmups against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2, and was placed on injured reserve the following week. At the time, coach Sean Payton said Kirkwood was a candidate to return to the active roster.

The Saints designated Kirkwood for return from the injured reserve list on November 13, and had been at practice since then.

Kirkwood has played in nine games as a Saint, with eight of those coming last season. In 2018, Kirkwood had 209 yards on 13 catches, tying Ted Ginn Jr. as the fifth-most productive pass catcher last year.

I really don’t see the harm in picking up Dez at this point. You’re telling me he can’t be a replacement for Kirkwood who was nothing but a depth receiver anyway, and Dez is sure as hell better than Austin Carr.

It’s the NFL. It’s possible he’s not good enough at this point.

No ones asking him to be great or who he was. I don’t think he’s that good at this point either. But do I think he can fill Kirkwood or Austin Carr’s role? Absolutely

I think you’re underestimating just how pedestrian someone can look running and cutting after sustaining a torn Achilles. Carr or Kirkwood despite being fringe players could be in a completely different class of athleticism than Dez at this point.

You might be right, but I don’t see the harm in bringing him in for a workout at the least

There was a rumor that Dez was terribly out of shape. Could be a reason why no one has called him, including us.

Really dropped the ball not trading for Parker. He’s been on a tear the last month for the Phins. And everyone was for sale on that team.

The drop off in talent after Michael Thomas is astounding.

Are you sure the dolphins were just giving him away, cause I'm not

And you know the saints weren't overpaying

I wanted them to trade for someone and just hope it doesn't come back to bite them

If Dez is healthy sure. Crabtree is still available too. Hell at this point I wouldn't care if they gambled on Antonio Brown.

How on earth do you injure your hamstring bad enough IN WARMUPS in week 2 that warrants you being out for the season?

Devante Parker is who I really wanted. He’s talented as shite. The Dolphins just suck.

How would we know we haven’t? Not all inquiry into a player has to be of the kind that shows up on the ESPN ticker.

yep....

our receiving corps is essentially:
1.) Michael Thomas (reliable, sure hands, elite)

2.) Jared Cook (inconsistent, above average)
3.) Ted Ginn (inconsistent, one trick pony, average)
4.) Alvin Kamara (rising star, sure hands, needs more touches)

5.) ???

both Hills would probably be next... hell, i don't even know who our #4 WR is right now... only WR's i've seen on the field have been Thomas, Ginn, and Smith...
