I think the guaranteed money give to Carr means we are pot committed to him for at least 2 years.

If I thought we could get out from under that contract by trading him, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

purely from a, “do I want this player on the team?” perspective, sure, I’d trade him. Mostly because I think our cap situation is not great and I’d personally prefer a full reset. If we’re going to be stuck as a middling 7-10, 8-9, 9-8 type team, I’d prefer to just blow it up and bottom out. Suck for 5 years and truly rebuild.

But that isn’t the Saints MO so we are likely stuck with Carr for 3-5 years imo

He has a no trade clause.

Doubt it, the vikings are coming to an end of their version of the derek carr experience and huge contract. They are dropping cousins after this year anyway to rebuild and prob draft a qb. Doubt they want to re-frick themselves

For now, they literally have no choice. They could cut every player who gives positive cap relief in 2024 and they'd only cut $15M into the $75M hole they have. They have to extend/restructure some players to get into the green and be compliant.

Since that is the case, might as well try to compete while we have some of the better players on our roster. Realistically the most feasible path forward is to hold onto Carr for a few more seasons.
