Payton and belichick?
Belichick has been average at best since Brady left.
About to find out with Payton and Russell Wilson trying to run an offense he is not built for.
I don’t see either team making playoffs.

Payton had average years with Brees.

The fact of the matter is that Payton's biggest downfall was his loyalty to assistants that should have been sent packing.

Still very good. Elite QBs don't grow on trees. Andy Reid drafted McNabb and Maholmes and worked with Favre. How good is he without those 3?

We will find out this year but in my opinion, without Payton, Brees doesn’t sniff the Hall of Fame

This is an all time dumb thread

How good is Reid without Mahomes
How good was Phil Jackson without MJ, Pippen, Shaq, and Kobe
How good has Pop been without Duncan.

Great coaches still need great players to win it all.

Still all-time great minds on their respective sides of the ball.

For Bill, his biggest weakness is addressing offensive skill positions in the draft and free agency on a consistent basis, and the same could be said for Payton at every single position on defense. Sure, there's a hit here or there but the list of misses is a country mile long.

They’re both HoF coaches. He had the #1 offense numerous times and won nearly 2/3s of his games with the Saints and won the division half the time plus a super bowl. Can say what you want about him as a person but we had a pretty good run with him as HC. Don’t understand the comments saying he underachieved here. shouldve won multiple SBs here if commissioner didn’t have it out for us.

You are comparing Mac to Russ in a way too. There is no comparison there.

It’s really hard to separate Payton and Brees. They were successful in tandem.

especially considering that Payton had Brees for his entire HC career. There’s a really small sample size to use to go off of based on OPs question but Im pretty sure with that extremely limited data that Payton has a higher winning % in games coached without Brees than Belichick has in games coached without Brady.

Andy Reid put up five straight winning seasons with Alex Smith as his QB. He won 11 games 3 times with Alex Smith. He went 5-1 one seasons with AJ feeley and koy detmer when mcnabb was hurt.

Another season he plugged in Jeff Garcia and went 5-1.

Andy Reid is truly elite. Sean Payton isn’t in Reid circle right now.

Not to mention, Reid's offensive wizardry has only gotten better with time, while Payton's got stale and predictable. Maybe you can attest some of that to Brees' declining arm strength, but the play-calling was still questionable more times than not about mid-way through the 2010s

Payton may alota games at Denver, but after he flapped his jaws about a coach that he replaced, when everyone knew he was in over his head, I hope Denver goes 2-15.

And looks shitty getting 2 wins. Do they fire Payton? he would have less wins than Hackett and Hackett as we know had a very short leash (15 games).
