o I’m not sure how good Carr will be with this coaching staff.

Yeah, the response that "he's just had bad teams and bad coaching his whole career" is a flawed one because that's exactly what the Saints are now. Of course I could be dead wrong but I just don't have faith in Allen. The guy has the charisma of a potato and way too risk-adverse. Payton got his players motivated and was at his best when he was rolling the dice.

Derek Carr is no different than Phillip Rivers .. good enough to get you to 1st or maybe even 2nd round of the playoffs. Which isn't that bad

I'm not sure why it's so hard for people to grasp but our window is closed. We had nearly a decade and a half or legitimate success.. and now we will fade into the "meh" abyss

Why do people do this

Anyway, Carr is a good QB and we should be an upper half of the nfc team and stroll into the playoffs.

If “pan out” means Super Bowl or bust, then probably not. But doesn’t mean we won’t have success.

Remember Brees really wasn’t any better in SD than what Carr is now.

I could buy this if carr was only 3-4 years into his nfl career, but he is 10 in now and never got much better.

And to the OP, brees and manning and several great qb’s have had shite defenses and still put up numbers and points. Carr is average to slightly above average after 10 years, thats just what he is.

Carr is a top 15 QB. Probably not top 10, but in that 10-15 range. Good news for us is that he’s probably top 3-5 in the NFC.

I watched the first couple of series of the Raiders v. Rams game yesterday. I was really impressed by Carr. He had a few great throws, the rest were just okay. What was more impressive was his command of the offense, calling protections, moving people around, doing the little things like completing a rollout and pretending to throw the ball after a handoff. It was competent QB play which we haven’t seen in a few years. He also scrambled for 8 yards and he’s a pretty decent athlete. Again, better than we’ve had in a while.

I was disappointed in Foster Maureau’s pass blocking. Yeesh.

TL;DR - I’m excited for competent QB play.

Watch the whole game and then get back to me. You watching a few series and getting an impression is simply misleading yourself considering he finished that game 11/20, 137 yards, 2 INT. Including this absolute fricking gem right before halftime. I keep telling you guys Carr is absolute dogshit in the red zone.

What’s also hilarious is that we keep hearing from the usual Carr dickriders like hellsu and goatmilker that Carr just needs a defense yet the Rams scored 17 and the Steelers scored 13 and Carr just shite the bed in those games. Obviously the defense just needed to allow less points for their hero “The Preacher” to get a dub.

Brees was 6 yrs into his career before he came to N.O. and blossomed. He was not much better than Carr previous. I'm saying Brees needed the right formula to make the next step.
Brees never threw more than 27 tds. in a season at S.D.

Your putting words in my mouth I never put Carr on the level of Manning and Brees. All I did was try to show the dysfunctional system he has been trying to function in.
The O.P. was "Will Derek Carr pan out" meaning will he be able to do what the team brought him here to do and that was be able to take them to the next level (playoffs) not is Derek Carr Drew Brees or Manning or Mahomes. Nobody expects that. Never said it.

You like to put words in peoples mouth. Let's see how good you are at putting Goat's Black and Gold Dick in your mouth when the team hits the playoffs and you lose the challenge.
Better go stock up on the chapstick,

Absolutely hilarious you called out another poster for using the wrong version of “too” in a post earlier before you edited it and then followed up with the wrong version of “you’re” given the context.

I agree Carr has struggled at times in the Red Zone.
Good job at cherry picking LINK this play. For some context on the play look at the scoreboard and you will see a Raiders 10 point lead with 55 seconds left before halftime. You don't have much to lose in that scenario by launching a soft butterfly. Not a big risk here. I'm sure he'd like to have it back.

How was I cherry picking when I listed his overall stats for the game and included that video because it highlighted how shite he was in the red zone?

And there was a ton to lose. Points on the board with a whole half left to play. A FG there and they win the game. Instead, CARRbage turned the ball over and halted momentum which lead them to come back and win.
