NFL is setup to favor high scoring offensive games. So just outscore people and get a decent DC that can get a few stops here and there. ie Drew/SP era. We should have had 3 SB if those 2 guys would have done the right things.

Explain why Kubiak couldn't do that with a healthy offense as OC with a defensive minded HC?

At this point, i just want a a leader in that position the players are willing to go to war for.

Coordinators don't have to be players run through the wall types You want your position coaches and many times head coaches to be that type. I have no problem with Kubiak this year considering he had a shitty head coach and a ridiculous number of injuries to key players. I'd assume though once we bring in a new coach he'll be gone.

To me its not the Kubiak can't do it, its that if he does do it, he will be someone else's HC in a year or 2 and we will have to replace him. And if that guy is good, we have to replace him to in a year or 2. And its hard to constantly find the next up and comer.

If you hire an offensive minded HC then you have that guy for as long as you want and if he can find a good DC then it much less likely he gets poached.

Surprisingly...

Offensive stats:
16th in Total YPG
16th in Passing YPG
13th in Rushing YPG
19th in Rushing YPA
17th in 3rd down%
T-11th in Giveaways

That's with Carr missing 3 games, Shaheed missing 4 games, Olave missing 2 games (not including the concussions KO'ing him), and Hill missing 4.

Did not expect us to be average considering how bad we played vs Tampa, vs Denver, @ LAC

Ben Johnson didn't get poached.

I get the premise and not saying it couldn't happen but IMO coaches getting poached is overrated. If they're doing it right you'll have a guy on your staff that you can rollin to his position if he gets a HC job.

If all your coordinators are getting poached into HC roles or your assistants into coordinator roles you're doing things right. JMO but I don't this the Saints are at that point yet. Even with Kubiak. Rizzi may be the first to get poached if he does well with this shot.

He is an outlier, not the rule and He will likely take a HC job this year. Like I said, it may not be every year but good OCs quickly become HCs.

So, you think it's a good idea to hire an offensive genius.

Why didn't I think of that?

Ben Johnson turned down jobs. That was on him but he definitely would have been poached if he wanted to.

Exactly, Proves my point that just because a guy succeeds doesnt mean hes automatically done at the first calling.

It's probably a moot point because the new HC will or should have the call on his own staff. But it looks like Loomis will be hiring him so who really know what that's going to look like. I'm less than enthusiastic to be honest. I'll increase my optimism level if loomis is fired or widthwise leaves his position prior to the HC hire.

I would too. I feel like if you look at the teams that are currently really successful there is a pretty strong identity across what kinda of players they go after as a FO, and that usually pairs well with the coach’s personality.

I feel like our identity was keep clinging to the Brees/CSP era even though it becomes a worse and worse cover band every year.

Like what is Mickey’s vision for a franchise at this point?

Even 16th in ppg.

While the first two games skew it, 21ppg with Carr and Kamara the past 2 games has been pleasant.
