Why did Sean Payton leave the NO Saints?

Did he ever give a clear reason?

It’s pretty clear that he just wanted to move on and didn’t want to be here anymore. He tried to leave several times.

Burnt out and needed a year to recharge

He reportedly was going to take the Dolphins job before the Flores situation blew that up, so I think that’s bunk.
He just wanted to move on, which is fine.

His wife hates New Orleans.

“Take the dolphins job” and “dolphins reached out to his agent” are kinda different huh bunchie

His view of New Orleans just so happened to change when his new wife came into the picture. Although it’s hard not view New Orleans as anything but a complete shithole led by incompetence personified in Teedy. We were lucky to get 16 years and a championship though so now we just have to do the only thing we can do. Get the max compensation we can for him and try to start over.

They’ve been together for like a decade now. She was already living in New Orleans when they met. I love how people act like he dragged her here lol

He’s a bitch and wanted an easier path to success. It’s that simple.

He’s been coaching since the late 80s/early 90s. He built a program and has been in the same job for 15 years. He wanted a break and a new challenge. I don’t like it, but I get it.

Like everyone else, he got tired of dealing with the bullshite that comes with living in New Orleans

The more I see things play out, I kind of think Payton favored a total reboot here vs. Mickey and co. wanting to try and continue as is.

When you view it like a regular job it makes sense. Job not as fun as it used to be so you quit and look for another one.

I think he realized how different things were after just 1 year without Brees. I absolutely think he wanted a year off, and absolutely think he wanted a new challenge after that year off
Posted on 1/15/23 at 4:34 pm to Pu2kph0
Drew Brees retired and he realized he wasn’t the qb guru that he thought he was
Posted on 1/15/23 at 4:39 pm to Pu2kph0
Burnout. Wanted a new challenge and change of scenery

If Brees would have retired a year early and Brady came aboard, he’d still be coaching in NOLA.
