players change, coaches have changed, fans have come and gone, but he has been the one constant on gameday for decades. He sounds that exact same as he did 20 years ago when i first started going to games. It's one of the only things i can vividly remember

Romig is awesome. First down saaaaaainnnnttttts!!! Why are people complaining about the fricking pa guy? The only reason I give a flying frick about the pa guy is because he is a legend. When he's gone I'll resume not giving a frick about what the pa guy sounds like or what he is saying

Worked at WDSU back since the stone age. Also lots of commercials and voice overs. Most people do not remember that Buddy D. did the P.A. for the games for a season. Romig has been doing it for over 40 years.

Buddy D. Did it the year before Romig took over. Actually was not that bad . I was just a kid but never forgot that.

He's New Orleans, born and raised. I used to work with him and his son, and I was friends with his granddaughter in high school.

Related subject, Dome needs a new PA system.
I blame most of the problems people have hearing the announcements on the sound system. Even the refs are hard to make out sometimes.

And that would be incorrect. I had my first set of season tickets in the 80's and was watching the team from the beginning.
I'm sure he's a nice man, and I don't wish him any ill, but Romig's voice does irritate the crap out of me. It's an awful PA voice. And the bit about "Passing complete" and "Pass incomplete" is right on the money. If you're taking a leak or buying a beer, you'd have no idea what the frick happened if not for the crowd noise.

Go to a Hornets game and listen to their PA announcer. You'll appreciate Romig instantly.
