but unfortunately its extremely difficult to put any faith that there is a "fix" for this ownership. Ms. Benson is a wonderful woman by all accounts, and I appreciate beyond words what she is doing for this city, and what she will continue to do.
But I do not think she has what it takes to be an owner. This will sound harsh, but she was a failed interior decorator with no business acumen that got very fortunate and fell in love with a billionaire. Tom was a ruthless guy and even he made a lot of terrible decisions, but ultimately some good ones.
The best thing would be that she has learned some lessons, and relies on the league a bit. That she brings in multiple outside consultants that actually know what they are doing, and makes a really smart choice outside of her comfort zone, and that person works out given that she has never been afraid to spend money.
One has to doubt it given how the Dumars situation was handled, and how they turtled after the outsider in Griffin didn't work out
But maybe she treats the Saints differently. Especially if the Pelicans season continues to go poorly she realizes the erred
nfl is a tough business.
only a select few nfl owners over the years have had actual football acumen.
blaming gayle and her lack of business intelligence or anything else is getting caught up in the trap of fan emotions imo.
owners across the league repeatedly hire coaches and/or gm's that don't work and will continue to try until they find a fix. a lot of shite is luck, a lot of it is good fortune. there's a responsibility on many people in the organization to have success.
but saints on the street needing to hire a new GM/and or coach, Gayle isn't that extreme to the same arse fricking boat most other nfl teams are in.

Maybe she can bring in Drew as a consultant, and he can help her in interviews. It couldn't hurt

I did not mention football acumen
That is for the people you hire.
To hire those people, having some level of business acumen can be a help in interviewing people.

What’s the fix if Loomis is retained?
you are keeping a football mind that's been in the business for over 30 years and has run a very professional and tight ship in the building. not many people exist on the planet that would have NEW ORLEANS best interest at the forefront better than Gayle, Lauscha, and Mickey. But you privately strip his balls away and take away his actual football decisions away and allow him to be part of the management team that holds the organization accountable. Mickey has earned that. At the end of the day, we would bring in a new front office in charge of the cap, GM decisions, coaching decisions, draft strategy and have full control of football powers.

Robert Kraft hired Jerod Mayo. I mean, the best of them aren't sure things.

I question if Mickey would willing give this up (I understand that decision may be made for him)

GM decisions
The team definitely needs a full reset here, including the scouting department

draft strategy
It worked for Payton, but they need to stop giving the HC as much control of the draft choices until they prove themselves. They absolutely need to provide input of the types of players they need/want for their systems; but until they have some stripes on the wall, draft day decisions need to remain with the GM. Assuming the stories about the HCs making the call on draft picks is still accurate

fair question to which many of us don't know. he'd be handsomely paid to be a football face that is at the highest of executive levels next to ownership but is helping the hiring of the football brains that run the day to day and is of mentorship help if requested.
its not that far of a jump from what's going on now but the biggest difference would be said new GM would have the coaching hiring power imo that would also collaborate with new coach with all personnel decisions as well.

Gayle hiring a firm/headhunter group who are really good at their job and rubber stamping their decision.
I wonder who Gayle’s closest friends are in ownership now that she’s been in the game a bit.
