When 5 % of your league is getting arrested for the crimes you mentioned, simply calling a player a thug isn't inherently racist.
Calling Von Miller a thug 5 years ago would have been deemed out of line, but recent events deem it a reasonable description.
Calling a millionaire a thug because of his or her actions isn't racist. It's only racist in the eyes of those that choose to make it so.

The 5% was a typo on my part. Will keep it as is.
As to the number of DUI's(or related) vs violent crimes, the ratio is 43:24 for the sample set I pulled. 56.5% were of the violent category. 32.5% were license or vehicle related.
Just picked from current back to 2020. There's an additional 50 pages of data
that goes back to 2000.

This is somewhat humorous outrage considering that black subculture has hijacked the term "thug" for decades and used it essentially as a badge of honor and a synonym for someone who is "hood" but when it is used by others in the same contextual way it is now somehow "racist."
People may well be incorrect in assigning it to certain players but that isn't necessarily "racist." And it's interesting how selectively people start applying dictionary definitions to terms that have clearly taken on different contextual meanings. The victimhood narrative is still the du jour role to play though so of course any reasoning to the contrary will be dismissed out of hand.
