I know this is right around the time when the dirty laundry starts getting hung out, but it seems particularly brutal this year and a number of those impacted are players we may have high interest in:

Randy Gregory....weed
Shane Ray....weed
La'el Collins....murder investigation
Jalen Collins...weed (don't think the Saints have much interest here, unless it's in later rounds)

Just read an article that is now predicting Ray may drop to the 3rd or 4th. Where do you think these will drop off the board?

My guess:

Gregory....late 1st
Ray....late 2nd
L. Collins...early 3rd*
J. Collins...late 2nd

*Note: I just don't think enough information concerning the murder can hit the street in time to make GMs completely comfortable with picking him earlier than this. If he's picked in the 3rd and things turn from bad to worse, you're only out a 3rd rounder.

Ray will not drop to the 3rd. That's ridiculous. If he is there at 44, and the Saints still have that pick, you run to the podium, no matter who you took at 13/31.

ETA: Hell, if he is there at 31, you run to the podium.

Ray, Gregory & L Collins will not drop out of the 1st. Book it. J. Collins will not make it out of the 2nd.

Ray to drop to 3rd or 4th round

I would be shocked if he's picked in the 1st. If you think Gregory was stupid for smoking weed when knew he was going to be tested, how stupid is Ray to be doing the stuff hours before the draft? Secondly, I'd bet good money Ray is going to be a guy who will have surgery on his toe right after the draft and you risk complications from that.

I sure as hell wouldn't pick him in the first.

I'll take that bet. While one or two may still go in first, the likelihood of all three is not very high. Gregory will be first, but Collins and Ray will find it difficult. Ray especially considering he was dropping already due to a bum toe

He doesn't drop past 15-20 imho

Ray....late 2nd

Probably but I think someone will reach

I highly doubt he gets past 40 or so. He's not a suspect.

See ray but he could be picked earlier based on measurables

He's had two doctors tell him he doesn't need surgery. He will not fall into the 3rd.

La'el Collins in the 3rd? No way. Dude is top rated OTackle in the draft. He'll also go 1st. He is not a suspect in the murder.

Maybe so.

In the post Aaron Hernandez NFL, owners will be a lot more active in preventing the FO from bringing in certain players; I'm sure they are not going to be anxious to jump into that media nightmare.

That's going a little over board comparing Collins to Hernandez. Collins has had zero off the field issues up until this issue and he's already been cleared of being a suspect.

I understand that; evidently, his attorney isn't 100% certain of this:

Collins' attorney, Jim Boren, told police his client is in Chicago getting ready for the NFL draft. But Boren told ESPN he has been in constant contact with the lead detective on the case and he spoke with the district attorney Tuesday.

"We took the investigation seriously," Boren said from his offices Tuesday. "We've tried to rule him out as a suspect. We're going to provide that information to the police, and ultimately [Collins] will sit down and talk to them. But the timing is poor."

"We believe that when [police] have verified that information, that they will rule him out as a suspect in the homicide, just as I believe he should be."

All 4 will still be drafted in the 1st. In fact Gregory and La'el will go before our pick at 13. All the La'el talk is a bit ridiculous, yall are making it a bigger deal than it really is. He was nowhere near the chicks house.

quote:

"We have identified where La'el was the day the lady was murdered to establish he was nowhere around," Boren told ESPN. "We have offered to give names, witnesses who can vouch for his whereabouts that day until after the woman's body was discovered. We believe that when [police] have verified that information, that they will rule him out as a suspect in the homicide, just as I believe he should be."

I'm pretty sure I do.

In fact, I actually know how prosecutors talk in murder investigations.

I didn't realize Aaron once put people in prison...other than himself.

This is a good situation to me.

Trade back and select Gregory. Take Collins at 31. And take two defensive players and a WR between rounds 2 and 3.
