1) I was really optimistic about the d-line. We were all worried about where we were going to get our pass rush, looking at our depleted linebacking corp, but I saw a unit that could be disruptive in the trenches.

2) I thought this could wind up to be on the better o-line units we've seen in the csp era. It wasn't looking like it during the first half of season, but they seem to be finally gelling. Is this unit as good as the 11' line? It's too early for that, but I know the 11' line didn't win in the trenches against the 49er's. We'll see. We'll be tested from here on out (after the Falcons game).

3) I was completely wrong about Jenkins. I thought Harper might find a niche in the defense, but I thought Jenkins was a lost cause. He might actually stick around depending on how much interest he draws in free agency.

I wondered about our Kennys. I didn't have many expectations. I figured it would take us at least two yearsto have a top 15 defense.

I really thought our pass defense was going to be pretty bad again, but improved. Last time I checked, we're #3.

I'm loving Ryan as our coach now. no doubt about it was the right move. Our special teams needs a little work and I wish our offense could have a consistent positive rhythm.

Other than the injuries and uncharacteristic frick ups, I'm confident in this team. I no longer fear our defense taking the field. I look forward to it now, which makes the games so much more interesting. Our D owned Dallas and beat san Fran. We have a strong team which has actually exceeded my expectations this far.

Yeah I was with you on the D line.

I'm not sure many people saw Jenkins playing this well and the overall pass D. Probably the biggest surprise of the season.

Same here

The pass rush has obviously helped a lot with this but the corners have done a nice job of playing the ball. It's amazing what Rob Ryan has done, you can really see the confidence in our defense. When the game is on the line our D line seems unblockable.

I thought we were gonna have no pass rush.. I was scared about our linebackers. We were supposed to be a 3-4, and we had like..2 OLBs on the roster?

It reconvenes Thursday night. They'll sentence the Falcons to death.

Trust me, I know a guy.

Ryan really built a defense around what he had. On top of that, he builds a new defense every week based on the opponent. I read before Sunday, we never ran a 4-4-3.

Wrong:
Thought we were in for another long year on D
Thought the Cards passing game would explode
Thought CJ Spiller would be the rushing champ
I thought the Jags would be a physical 8-8 team
Sure there is a lot more
Dez going apeshit. Like 1800 yards apeshit
Jarvis Jones

Jury Still Out:
49ers miss playoffs

2nd year starting QBs struggling: luck hasn't. Wilson has had moments good and bad. Kaepernick and RG3 are bad right now

Manning playoff failure

Right:
Flacco not earning his money
Kaepernick absolutely sucking
Saints going to the playoffs
Pistol going kaput
Getting banned from TD
Honey Badger balling

I thought Armstead would be getting much more significant playing time but that was clearly me just being too optimistic.

I thought our offensive line would be a step better than this but that our defense, while improved, wouldn't be this good.

I also thought Nick Toon would've had more impact.

I was way too optimistic about our run game, but thankfully that's starting to come around

I thought that Atlanta was the best team in the NFC. I admit it. So glad I was wrong

I was right about most things, with PFF's help.

But I was pretty worried was Keenan Lewis was a FA bust.

What I was wrong about:

I never would have thought that the defense would win more games for us than our offense

What I was right about:

I knew I'd spend too much money on beer at the dome this season

I was wrong about KLewis, I thought he was gonna be a bust but he has really started to settle down into our #1 CB.

We should have trusted Loomis.

The guy has gotten much better over the years.

Ditto. Was thinking top 10 caliber DL, average LB's and CBs, and bottom 5-10 S corps for most of the season before KV started getting a hang of things and making it respectable. Jenkins and Harper have both been good and easily the biggest surprise.

For the DL, I was especially right about Jordan, who I figured would be a pro bowl LDE within 2 or 3 years after we drafted him.

Was wrong on John Jenkins, whom I thought would be having more of an impact than he has after an impressive preseason, but he hasn't been bad or anything and rookie DTs have a bigger learning curve than most other positions on defense.

Was right on Kenny Stills. Obviously had no idea he would be averaging 22.4 YPR, but I figured he'd have more catches and would end up in that 700 yard range on the season (and he will).

Was wrong on Toon. Thought that he wouldn't absolutely suck dick, but he's doing that and cradling the balls while he's down there.
