Obviously hometown team is a draw, but other than that, I cannot wrap my head around why he would choose ATL.

Any deal made for Watson will cripple an already weak team for years to come.

I just don’t see them being a realistic option. Sure, maybe he is giving them a little time to see what they can do, but there is just no way he chooses ATL if he is any sort of competitor and cares about winning. (He’s been playing for a loser, why would he want to continue that?!)

They are selling him the opposite. They are saying they can build a top roster around him.

Home is pretty powerful, especially for a guy getting beat up from every direction like Watson is right now.

It will be tough for ATL to build a good team for a few years if they're giving away 3 first round picks.

I mean, what more should they sell him? He'll make a ton of money and be home.

That's pretty solid combo.

Don’t overthink it. He’s a big time Atlanta guy. They will try to build around him and he’s young enough to buy into that. He wants to win a super bowl with his childhood team in front of his family.

The other team in the running is his hometown teams arch rival.

My opinion is that he knows 2022 is probably a wash. He is likely getting suspended. If they trade Ryan, they will have cap space to play with in 2023. They can sign people.

The Texans prefer Atlanta because the 2023 pick will probably be top 10, if not top 5. The saints will be an automatic playoff team but can offer better players.

Atlanta is selling the hometown long game to Deshaun. Plus, he wants that. He is the one that reached out to them.

Nothing more than anyone else. The least from a team aspect actually. But keep in mind....Watson SOUGHT OUT Atlanta. NOLA, Carolina and Cleveland SOUGHT OUT Watson. He wants to be in Atlanta. They were not in the mix until he put them there. They could offer him a shite sandwich and he would be "where do I sign?".

Atlanta selling 3rd place in the division and continuing to lose one or two games a year to the Saints.

He grew up 20 minutes away from the practice facility. Also, he knows he is the building block that his hometown team needs. Take this how you want, but Atlanta having a black GM can be a draw for Watson.

You guys are missing the key piece. His GF is a social media influencer and an aspiring artist. Atlanta is THE choice if he plans to go long term with her as well. Just know if he does chooses the Falcons that it is a business decision where football is not a factor.
