What is all the chatter about mismanagement at the end of the game?

You absolutely go for it on 4th down with under 4 minutes left

On the last drive, we burned 2:30 minutes, the 2 minute warning, and all the falcons TOs

Genuinely curious what peoples issues are

I thought Carr's intentionally not scoring on 1st and 2nd down was pretty slick.

I thought so too.

Only nitpick is 2nd & 2 incompletion to Kamara with after the 2 minute warning. Even then, we were at the 17, not exactly in clock killing mode when you need a TD.

We just needed to do the same thing on 3rd down.

Either people who have never watched the NFL or people who have never watched the Saints

The only thing I would have done differently is tank the 3rd down and goal play intentionally but that’s not realistic

We were doomed as soon as things unfolded that way

From the 7 yard line I don’t agree. From inside the 2 yes.

Not sure, I’ve decided to ignore them and simply melt about the Saints doing Saints things over and over

In that situation, 4 minutes left, 3 timeouts, and from the 6 or 7…… frick no. But Allen is a goddamn moron and has always been and always will be.

Except it worked perfectly

And then Adebo committed his 3rd PI of the day and we lost

Blame the people who should be blamed

If we kick the FG the falcons get the ball at their own 30 and not their own 7 and they call a completely different set of plays. They might get two first downs and it’s game. Even if they don’t they’ll punt it and we would’ve have had to go 80 yards for a touchdown.

Going for it is the right move because of exactly what happened. You greatly increase the odds of getting the ball back in good field position

You can just about guarantee that if the Saints score to take the lead and there is at least 50 seconds or more left on the clock, the opposing team absolutely will drive the field and get into field goal range to break our hearts every time.

So you kick the FG and give up the field position gained by going for it and then who knows how it plays out

Absolutely not the right call. And I don’t have to argue time/timeouts/field position.

You passed on a guaranteed 3 points. You lost by 2.

This is filling in A LOT of blanks that wouldn’t exist in the timeline you’re proposing

Nah. I understand where you are coming from honestly. And would understand your comment if plenty of us didn’t say take the points as it was happening. So many games come down to FGs. It’s exactly why we say take the points in that situation.

That’s not how any of this works at all. This isn’t like passing up 3 points in the second quarter and then losing by 2.

The 7 points to take the lead were a direct result of going for it. You can’t just assume we kick the fg and then also score the touchdown. That’s statistically very unlikely.

The decision to go for it resulted in the lead with 30 seconds left and Falcons needing 30 yards and no TOs. You take that every time. We just couldn’t get it done on defense and Koo made a great kick

Right—

Its so hard to win in the NFL when you give up 1 non-offensive TD. We gave up 2. Notngoinf to win many games like that and I'm surprised we had a chance to win that one

Let’s fill in that the Falcons offense didn’t score a TD all day. So why are we so concerned with what their field position would be?
