DT imo. They've got to get better at stopping the run.

I understand it's not an elite class, but you have to take a shot on a quarterback. You can get off of Carr after next season so picking a QB and letting him sit for a year is ideal. They have to find the future at that position before they will ever have a shot to win another super bowl. Finding a great quarterback can cover up a lot of the other issues on a team, just look at the commanders this season.

Needs
Offense:
WR
OG
RB

Defense
DE
S
run stuffing DT
LB
CB

i think ideally we get a pass rusher in RD 1 and id go OG in rd 2. S or RB in rd 3.

TIER 1

DE - Need a franchise player

X Receiver - BIG body. Good in traffic/RZ. Dawg.

TIER 2

Safety - Tyrann on his last legs and we brought a guy off the street to start next to him. Howden is depth at best

DT - Haven’t been able to stop the run in 3 years. Someone who compliments Bresee

TIER 3

RB - Home run hitter ala Achane

OL - Talented developmental guy in the middle rounds you wouldn’t be scared to throw in

CB - Someone with upside to replace Adebo

Keep building on the lines

If Olave plays on and Shaheed recovers, you can maybe bring MVS back on a cheap deal and hope K. Wilson and Means keep developing. You can find some good wr’s after round 1.

I don’t think our WR is as bad as it seems but it certainly could be if things don’t play out ideally so i get the concern.

More than position, I just do not want to trade up in the first round under any circumstance. We need draft capital. No single player is going to make such a difference that we can sacrifice 3-5 picks over the next two years.
I think Mickey doesn’t realize that trading down is allowed.

Do we still have a first round draft choice left???
I thought we gave up all first round draft picks we have until 2030 for the fricking bust Davenport!!

About the only position I don’t think we should spend a first rounder on is OT (unless the staff believes they can move penning inside to fix a guard problem).

Otherwise, take whoever in the first round. We have needs everywhere. From a sheer value standpoint I would love a center, RB or LB in the first round unless they are some second coming.

O line . If we are picking high enough for elite talent, you can not pass.

Fuaga and Penning have been solid at OT, and we need an LG. You typically don’t take a guard in the first unless you are in the mid to late 20s. We need to take the best DT or preferably DE available in the first. Take your LG in the 2nd.

You never pick that in the first round much less top of the first round. Beyond stupid.

You don’t take DT’s in the first either. Or at least not at the top. Bust rate is high for the position.

I didn’t say this. The question was top draft priority, dipshit. It’s a position that needs to be addressed in the draft more than any other in my opinion.

I'm ok with DE. But we can't miss by reaching on a DE and pass on a best player available.

Forcing a position into a certain round is stupid. What if there are no DEs or CBs worth a first round pick?

I would imagine that the OP asked the question with the understanding that all positions had the same 'grades at the time the saints were on the clock.

It really isn't that hard to understand the 'hypothetical' he asked.

Line. You have to draft lineman on both sides. Once this is established, then go get your skill players. Rattler, can be inserted after he has a better line.
