What goes through an executive's mind before he hires an NFL coach with this record?

Year 1: 4-12
Year 2: 4-12
Year 3: 0-4 fired after the 4th game.
"Oh, it's going to be different this time".
What was Loomis thinking?

Its obviously valid and what we all asked at the time.
His thinking process at the time was that DA was a damn good DC for them, they had a great relationship, his previous stop was with the Raiders where virtually no one succeeds, and that he wanted to have a continuous era of Saints football.
It was flat out wrong and dumb, but that was the thinking process.

The thinking was he was a terrific coordinator and he worked under Sean Payton, so he will be much improved since OAK tenure
Breaking news: They were wrong!

He was thinking he was hiring a DC not a HC?

I think we underestimate how lazy Loomis really is.
He is a Low T, kick the can down the road, never make a good or tough decision a-hole.

In 2021 the Saints were 5-2 when Winston was lost for the year. Things fell apart for the next 5 weeks with back up QBs, but in the final 5 games they went 4-1. That included a dominant performance against the eventual champs, Tampa Bay, where Allen's defense completely shut them out. The only loss in that stretch was to Miami when the Saints were forced to start Ian Book after the stupid covid rules sideline 1/3rd of the damn team.
Still, the Saints finished 9-8 that season. I'm sure the thought internally was that if Winston doesn't get hurt, the Saints are not only a playoff team, but one that could have made some noise considering how dominant they were vs. Tampa. The defense is what led the way late that season. There wasn't an overwhelming feeling that blowing up the team was what was needed. Thus, they chose to maintain some continuity. That wasn't unreasonable considering the team was 13-3, 13-3, 12-4 in the three years prior to 2021 and was very much on their way to another double digit win season (likely somewhere between 11-13 wins) if not for the loss of their starting QB.
I'm certain the thought looking ahead to 2022 was we are 47-18 (regular season) over the last 4 years with this staff. Our starting QB is going to be back next season and there is no reason to think we can't be a 11, 12 win team again if we maintain continuity.
It obviously didn't work out. But there absolutely was a logical reason at the time to hire Allen as HC.

He was blinded by arrogance and friendship.
He "found" Payton and Loomis wanted to be considered a genius again by finding a coach no one else would give the time of day.

It was a totally stupid move based on allens previous tenure as a HC, his demeanor, and also the fact that situation rarely works out.

Why you think there is any place here for a reasonable, common sense take on this situation is confusing to me. This is Saints Talk. Just (preferably in all caps) write LOOMIS SUCKS and be done with it.
