I’ve seen him linked to the Saints in some recent mock drafts. You probably know him best from the University of Alabama.

Coming out of HS he was the #1 OLB and the #14 player overall.

Bama linebackers are pretty damn good (Mosley, Foster being the most recent 2)

so yes, I'll take it

After watching all three play at Bama, Evans is as athletic (if not, more) as Mosley and Foster, but does not seem have the instincts that the other two possess. With more coaching and experience manning the middle of a defense, he could end up being a fantastic LBer, but I don't think he will have the immediate impact that the other two had.

I don't watch Bama that often. How is he in pass coverage?

He's the player I think takes us to a new level on defense.

From top 15 to top 5.

Just gonna go ahead and bump this because if this man is still on the board at 27, we should take him.

He's a MLB that analyst say can also he a edge pass rusher I feel like we can't go wrong with our pick I'm wide open. I'm one of the few who wants Lamar Jackson so I'm open to anything I trust Ireland

I will say on a personal level that Evans was an exceptional young man in high school. He was highly intelligent and respectful for all those around him.

He took upper level classes and was selected by the administration to be a Tiger Ambassador which are the high school hosts that show up for public appearances and lead community leaders on tours of the school and programs.

He comes from a good family.

I would not touch and Alabama player in the first round unless he was a clear-cut top ten pick. Alabama has too many great players on their defense to really get a good judgment on how good the player really is

That is a fair point and from that angle maybe some of the Bama players do not see the double teams or schemes run to go against the star players because they are all over the field.

Not all that often. Last season was his first season as a full time starter so I feel like he still has some learning to do.

Agree - just have to see how the board falls in what I think is an almost unpredictable draft with all the early QBs projected. Lot of smoke being put out there by GMs at this point.

I'd be all for it. He can rush the passer too.

Holy contradiction.

Are they great or should they be avoided?

As far as Evans goes I think he’s a natural weakside linebacker. He played the middle last year because our depth there was very young. He’s not bad in pass coverage due to his athleticism, but he’s better coming off the edge than he is dropping into a zone. He can be a handful as an edge rusher. Elite burst and a really good inside swim move. When he learns to use some counter moves then I could see him being a 12-15 sack a year player. Kid used to chase horses as a workout in high school. He hasn’t hit his ceiling yet imo, and would be a steal at 27, but he hasn’t really mastered any part of his game yet either. Foster and Mosley were tackling machines that just eliminated the run and read the game as well as anyone. Evans isn’t that guy. He probably has more pure athleticism than both though, and could be that guy with the development that comes with more reps at the next level. I still think his best skill set at the moment is using his speed to get to the quarterback
