What are the chances that Taysom Hill ever takes a meaningful snap for the Saints?

It just seems too good to be true that we found a good QB off of some other team’s roster because that team didn’t really want to have anything to do with him.

I mean, Payton knows QB's. Depends on how well other QB's do and when Drew retires, but if he can throw and is smart, he's got a good shot seeing how tough he is and how well he can run.

Before Brees retires...0%

After.. up in the air. It’s hard to question Payton’s logic anything offense related. He’s one of the greats

I mean if he’s the backup pretty decent when you have a starting qb pushing 40. Brees is durable but at his age it wouldn’t be crazy for him to miss a game or two if he got banged up

We will find out very soon in camp. You can check off physical tools, a want to, competitiveness and ability to run.
We will all see and hear real quick if he is hitting the receivers in all the patterns and doing it consistently.
Then in the first preseason game who follows Brees first in order of appearance.

So chances? 50/50.

1%. Once Brees is gone we will have a tank year and draft a young prospect unless we somehow hit thx jackpot with a free agent again

This post is brought to you by Garret Grayson in the 3rd rd. 11 picks before David johnson and 13 picks before Danielle Hunter

Hill could turn out but he doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt like everyone is giving him. He’s a 27 year old 58% college passer who hasn’t taken a meaningful NFL as was value enough as a QB to play ST. Can we just root for him and leave it at That?

Who says they didn't want anything to do with him?? LOL He was a team favorite over there in Green Bay just like he's become in New Orleans that they were trying to sneak through the waiver and on to their practice squad, but the Saints knew about him and grabbed him.

He already has on special teams. Kind of doubt he sees anything more meaningful than that though.

We gave Drew Brees a $60 mil deal in 2006

Claimed Hill off waivers

We are too good to have a “tank year” we aren’t just a qb driven team at this point.

If hill started this entire year we would be at the bottom of the league and would have a very high draft pick.

Well of course. He’s never taken a snap in the nfl and he could be terrible. However when brees hangs it up we will have two elite offensive playmakers who are still young, a top 5 o line, potentially two elite bookend DEs(we are expecting to at least) and a young stud DT to go along with an excellent young secondary.

That’s not a “tanking” team. That’s a team a decent game manager can likely go 8-8 with. We could absolutely avoid tanking by trading some capital for someone we like.

Big if, but if Hill plays well enough in preseason to win the backup over Savage, then Hill will probably play the last two games when we sit Brees before the playoffs after they secure home field advantage and a bye.

This isn't true. The Packers didn't want to lose him. They just didn't have the room to give him a roster spot.

It's not really a "too good to be true" situation. It's much more common than you think. If anything was too good to be true, Drew Brees becoming a free agent and absolutely nobody wanting him badly but us was too good to be true! Nobody wanted him but us, and now he's close to holding every meaningful passing record in NFL history.

Seems like your missing a few. All time yards etc etc . Most 5k seasons. Best birth mark combo smile...
