#Saints HC Sean Payton is open-minded about whether to play Dez Bryant against the #Bengals Sunday. He will attend meetings and practice today. Payton has been in direct communication with Dez about his potential interest since before the 2018 draft.

Rap tweeted that Dez will officially sign today, but him playing Sunday might be a bit ambitious.

That Bengals defense is pretty garbage, so I can see Payton holding off a week for him to get more into game shape.

What’s so difficult about Dez playing 10-15 snaps?

If Dez doesn’t play, we go into game with only 3 true WR. One of those is Austin Carr, who has done nothing.

Dan Arnold pain train forthcoming!

I don't know. He's coming in midweek, virtually no time to learn the playbook. I could see giving him some snaps on some basic plays, but if you don't have to, why bother? No need to rush it, especially against the 30th ranked defense.

Even if he plays to take pressure and double teams off of Michael Thomas, it's worth having him on the field.

One of my friends buddies was on a Southwest flight with Dez yesterday from Houston to NOLA. Imagine being a millionaire and flying Southwest. Oof.

We wont technically need Dez for any game this season, especially the Bengals. we have had the best all around offensive unit in the league without him. You cant forget that this man had 119 receptions for 1634 yards and 15 tiddies in his past 2 “aging” seasons with a trash quarterback for a trash organization. I think this offense reaches an unprecedented level of efficiency and success with him on the field. Im willing to wait as long as Payton wants to see him. What a time to be a Saints fan.

There have been situations like this before where the QB will call he play and then will just tell the new guy:

You are running a slant, square in and so on.

The main issue from where I see it is if you play him it may limit what you can change to in your audibles.

Is he going to know every fist pump, finger shake and rub of the leg or verbiage? Also are you on the same page as the QB. If Brees reads one thing and expects Dez to break off his route, stop in the zone or play the back shoulder will he know that.

I could see them give him maybe 5 plays to learn in the red zone. Then you can take those in other areas of the field based on need.....

He will no doubt not know the playbook in that short of time so if he sees the field, Drew can just tell him the route to run and get him the ball or take defenders off MT or AK

Got eagles and Falcons approaching.

Faster he can get used to game speed again and knock some rust off the better. Playing the 30th ranked passing D is nearly more reason to get him into the fold a little.

Like the other posters said, roll with TreQuan and Mike as your starters, work Dez in the trips packages and red zone packages and give him about 20 snaps.

He damn sure needs to dress out if only as a emergency WR.
And he can run go's all day long and red zone corner shots if need be.

Yeah I imagine they won't give him very complicated routes.

Wouldn’t be shocked if dez is familiar with some things from watching us play. All you’d do is work him in as needed for a few snaps

WRs play for new teams the week after getting traded all the time. Demayruis Thomas just did it.
