We filled a weakness. We get a guy who is healthy and ready to roll. Team leader for 2 years. All these people wanting a guy in the 1st round with major knee issues, remember clowney, remember waiting on Byrd to return. And obviously their is a major problem because ALL teams passed on him.

People wanting nkemdiche, this is another guy who seems to be always injured. Played in only 9, 10, and 10 games in his 3 years at ole miss. Plus the off field stuff.

I think we made a great pick of a guy who I believe has his mind on playing football and that's it. Not worried about fame or anything else. A great locker room guy.

I agree, but...

That's just about the whole season each year.

I don't like RN simply because he makes stupid decisions. Arizona is the perfect place for him with TM7 to help him get his priorities straight.

These people, along with the people that actually thought Lynch was gonna be drafted by the Saints, lack perception about the Saints.

Thank you for not saying "mistakes." I hate that fricking phrase. These grown men are making choices with full knowledge of what they are doing. It's not the same as forgetting to dot the I or turning right at the wrong street

Agreed. I didn't like him for us, but I'm not denying he has potential to be a great player. Arizona has a history with this sort of thing working. Plus the radio guy here in Baton Rouge made a good point yesterday. We have 10 years of first round drafting history (11 now) with Payton at the helm. He doesn't take character issues and he doesn't trade back in the first round.

damn excited to see a Fairley/Rankins interior pass rush. Fairley had a great season last year. His snaps were limited was the only issue. With Laurinaitis pushing for him I am hoping we see him return to 5-6 sack form as he did in 2012 & 2013. Let's be conservative and give Rankins 4 sacks. When was the last time the Saints generated 10 sacks out of the DT position?

QB pressure is the most important factor for today's NFL defenses. Going from nothing to serious up the middle push and things can change quickly. Add another edge rusher today and it might be the best Saints draft under Payton in the regard of getting what the voice of the fans said.

Loved our pick, I just hope we can get a guard within our next 2 picks.

Hated the pick at first, have really come around on it since. Think it's a very solid and safe pick. Sounds like most analysts agree and I've seen A's across the board for our round 1 grade. Hopefully it continues into tonight where rounds 2 and 3 have been very rocky for us in recent history.

Exactly! Good QB's can step up, in, and around the outside rush. When the middle comes crashing into their face, it's over. A dominant DL ----> good LBs-----> great secondary.

Wow you're quick to read replies to your own thread. I had that typo fixed quite quickly. But I'll let you play that game of calling out people's typos while I'll continue to ignore your stupid rants based off of your irrational hatred of any player the saints pick.

ok. Says the guy who just posted that he hated the pick. Yet I'm the "armchair GM" for stating I'm ignoring your stupid rants? That term doesn't mean what you think it does, slug.

12 is one of those spots where you either take a risk on a guy, or you take a safer approach and go with a guy that will contribute immediately. Rankins is a very good pick. We are building a strong defense through a smart drafting a approach, starting last year, and by not oversigning one big name FA that comes in and gets hurt day 1. Now hopefully we can snag Noah Spence or Michael Thomas. Plenty of good choices remaining though.

I share your optimism, but I am concerned with Fairley's work etic. That said, while I don't think he had much of a season last year, it does seem he worked diligently.

You may be spot on if Rankins and Fairley can get on the field together, maybe Fairley can return to his Suh form.

So because I wasn't initially on board with the pick, possibly because I personally would have rather taken a DE or WR there, you bleed from your vag and cry like a bitch? Makes sense I guess. ... Still waiting for the part where I had this so-called "rant".
