Bunkley and Hicks are going to play the Ratliff role and get the stuffs in the backfield and sacks. Jenkins is going to play the run stuffing role ala Hampton and Wilfork. Raji is pretty good at both.

Those last two haven't sucked in the least. PRob was decent in GW's man scheme(definitely not a zone CB). Jenkins showed promise as a NB(sucks at safety). I'm doubtful but maybe Jenkins and PRob can show something in Ryan's D.

Not going to try to defend Ellis. Ain't no way no how to do so.

Bonethug, we are out of harmony.

1. nickleback isn't a position. For a top 10 pick to show promise at being the third best CB on a s team with shitty CBs isn't a good thing

2. My general point is we have drafted half a good chunk of our starters in the last 7 years and our defense sucks.

3. I hope PRob can show something in Ryans D it will be a lot of man.

I liked the Jenkins pick more. I was hoping we'd get a nose guard.

sucks we lost Ivory but I think with what got in return was worth it.

Nickel is a huge position in today's NFL. With the emphasis on passing and 3 and 4 wide sets, the nickel starts as often as(if not more than) the 3rd(4th in a 3-4) LB.

He wasn't a top 10 pick. He was 15.

Greer is a solid corner. I'm not putting much emphasis on anything from the Spags train wreck and I've said why plenty before(very wrong scheme for our players). We also added Lewis and PRob was a decent nickel before Spags. White also showed promise.

So for a guy that will primarily play safety, for him to come in and potentially ALSO be our 3rd best corner is a great thing.

So yes, we are out of harmony because your point does not make sense.

I think Armstead will take time to develop just like Bushrod did. He may not start, but we need Jenkins to step up early and get a ton of playing time.

Do you really think Jenkins was worth the pick? Who is going to rush the passer? The NFL is a passing league.

We don't need him to pass rush. He's gonna occupy an OG and the OC while a guy like Martez Wilson runs full speed at the QB.

Ya'll are both wrong. Sedrick Ellis was the top 10 pick, Malcolm Jenkins was the 15th pick, and PRob was selected as the last pick of the 1st round.

Wasn't Bushrod rated second to last among LT's this past year? Armstead should be able to match that. I do agree that he will need some time. The bad thing about Kromer leaving is his O line expertise left as well

At the very least he could be a good RT. Worth the pick in the 3rd

Ryans D

That is the key to this D. If Ryan can run a scheme that works. We have enough talent on D to win a SB.

I doubt it. If he was, the Bears shouldn't have given him a 5yr/$40mil contract.

Damn I was very confused by what he meant. I thought he meant this year with Vacarro being a top ten pick and playing mostly nickel.

Yes, Jenkins also went 15th and was drafted to play NB(he was not beating out Porter and Greer) and obviously was viewed as the eventual "answer" at FS once Sharper left.

No cornerback is a huge position in the NFL. Nickle back is just a cornerback in a nickle package. Does the player change positions to a dime back when you go to a dime package? no.

Also I was talking about Malcolm Jenkins sucking.( who was #14) Not Vaccaro. I actually think Vaccarro will be better. But being the 3rd best Cornerback on the saints last year isn't something to hang your hat on.

My biggest point is it is rare for us to draft this high, and i think we squandered it on a safe pick. We need someone dynamic on our defense. I don't think Vaccarro has the potential to be a gamechanger. There are very few safeties who do.

yeah, I think he could find a home there if need be. there were a lot of injuries on that side last year.

at one point, some guy named Bryce Harris was starting over there... that was really the first time in awhile I could remember the Saints having that many injuries on the O-line.

we needed depth there for sure.

Nickel and Outside Corner are very different position with very different responsibilities. Go do some research on it and you'll see just how much.

Usually you put your better corners on the outside, but often(especially in recent years) teams are putting their quickest(not fastest)/most athletic corner over the slot guy.

The slot position is becoming more and more important(and is really as different from outside receiver as nickel is to outside corner). There's a reason Welker played well and was very coveted, and there was a reason the Vikings got a first rounder for Harvin, and there was a reason the Rams traded up to get a slot receiver.

Just like there is a reason teams are drafting to be 3 deep at corner now.

We drafted 1 starter day one, maybe.
I like all three picks but Armstead is a bit of a project, Brown starts day one. KV will share time with Harper unless there is a position change. He is our starter at some point and definately next year. Bunkley and Jenkins will rotate, I also wouldn't be surprised if we pick up another DL or OT

If that's the case, the poor SOB will be playing 40 snaps a game every game.

It's possible he could be forced into more duty than we thought.
