Take last season for example, Brees INT's were much higher than ever (I think). He threw for a lot of yards but throwing that many INT's shows something (a decline maybe)?

No, it shows a fluke season.

I feel like you have no idea regarding how to construct an argument or how to have a fact based conversation.

As for the QB being great because of a team accomplishment. Yes, clearly those both are connected...

So Dan Marino isn't great but Trent Dilfer is. RIIIIIIGHT.

The "rings" argument is pretty lazy. Counting QB wins in a single season or a post season is a tragically flawed way to measure a QB's worth.

And I'm saying all of this IN DEFENSE OF MATT RYAN, for frick's sake!

I guess we'll just have to find out who was right in 1-3 years?

Here's to hoping that we can actually count this season as a body of work and they'll fix this lockout!

At least we can agree on that Saphandros?! Or maybe not!

You're a Falcons fan. I'm morally prohibited from ever agreeing with you.

way too early

before free agency and rosters set ya might as well use a ouija board

Falcons O-Line is a serious issue. Lose a couple of those guys, have only make do replacements + no pass rusher added and it could be a sharp fall off. Keep all those guys and add Ray Edwards could mean a 5 game difference in wins/losses.

The Saints have a load of free agents also. There's only a few that have real impact though. I'm pretty confident they'll retain those as needed.

BTW, I was very happy the way the 2012 1st Rders trades for both teams worked out...

ATL- 2011 1st, 2nd, 4th, 2012 1st & 4th, for a guy that will touch the ball 4-7 times a game

NO- 2011 2nd & 2012 1st for a guy I'm projecting as 15-20 carries a game

the difference in production to cost of those trades could be the pivot point of success in the division for the next 5 years

How many QB's continue to have "great" (Brees in 09) seasons after 32-33? Not many.

I won't do the legwork for ya. Put a little effort into researching HOF QBs histories and you'll find plenty. In fact, productivity coupled with longevity is one of the clearest uniting factors of most HOF QBs. Virtually any player can be wiped out by injury at anytime- that happens. Brees is one of the most rigorous in shape training QBs around. He has a high drive & focus for greatness too. I can imagine him stepping down after getting his 3rd Lombardi in 5-6 years.

I did the legwork in a later post, blues.

This is why I love the Mark Ingram pick. Drew just had too much on his shoulders last year.

agreed. look at all the injuries last year and we still went 11-5 regular season. heck with Pierre, Bell and Bush we had a very good running game in 2009 when we won it all. use pierre, ivory and ingram this year and watch out!

Favre played well over what was expected, and he took way more shots than Brees ever has.

Drew's jersey stays pretty clean and rarely does he take a HUGE hit. If someone like Favre can get jacked up like he did and played til his late 30's, then Brees should be fine. Not to mention, if our running game plays to it's potential, Brees won't have to carry nearly the workload he had to carry in years past.

I'm not naive enough to believe that Brees won't start to regress at some point due to age, but I think he and Payton can gameplan to account for things like that when Drew starts to hit the homestretch of his career.

Barring the injury bug like our RB's caught last year, I'll go :

Saints (14-2)
Falcons (10-6)
Bucs (10-6)
Panthers (4-12)

Out of Indy, Green Bay and Atlanta (2x), I figure would could very well walk away with 2 losses, otherwise I have them winning all of their other games.

Falcons & Bucs I think will be in an interesting race for 2nd place in the south all season.

The panthers play the #1 toughest schedule in the NFL. They may not even win the 4 I predicted.
