He’s going to be better than any they’d have picked in the 4th.

You’re part of the instant gratification generation.

You’d have never survived 1967 to 2006.

Vele 4 rec 29 yards

4th rd rookie Elic Ayomaynor 17 rec 196 yards
5th rd rookie Oronde Gadsen 15/144
4th rd rookie Gunnar Helm 13/133
5th rd rookie Tory Horton 9/113
4th rd rookie Jaylin Lane 7/82
5th rd rookie Mitchell Evans 7/66
7th rd rookie Tez Johnson 6/112
4th rd rookie Donte Thornton 5/94
5th rd rookie Jackson Hawes 4/54
6th rd rookie Jimmy Horn 4/57

How could we ever replace Vele’s production? Just have to be patient with the soon to be 28 year old

I don’t actually hate the trade in terms of a value. More than likely, a 4th rounder won’t be as good as Vele.

Just don’t understand it in terms of where the Saints are. We aren’t good. We won’t be good again for a couple years. Keep, acquire and use your draft picks to rebuild.

Between the mouth foamers and fist pumpers I have no issue at all with the deal. CKM got who he and his staff wanted.
I don't understand the lack of use.

This is a valid point in about 8 different ways

Everyone here wants to tank and stack high draft picks for a "rebuild". The Saints franchise has probably had more high draft picks than any other team in the NFL, and for the most part, none of those players moved them into contenders.

Then they add Payton and Brees in one offseason and everything clicks. Quite literally "instant gratification".

Until you get the correct combo, all the draft picks in the world won't change much.

Instant gratification

Wanting to draft and develop a 4th rd pick

Or

Celebrate trading a 4th rd pick for a 28 yr old WR who was supposed to contribute day 1

What an arse backwards take

That would be very femalian. You barrister give no leeway on potentially bad pics or trades. By your call no coaches would stand up. Or of course you’re welcome to find one or as your want… change the wind.

I think playing the long game on this one might pay off. I think he’ll start getting more targets soon.

What?

They did something mind-numbingly stupid. If you want to shift the blame to them, fine, but from an objective-rational analysis, it was so bad their aptitude in this area should be in complete question.

Giving a 4th for an old WR who is not even mediocre was bad enough, but even if you want to do a results-oriented analysis, it only gets worse.

He's not young. He has no room for improvement. We gave up valuable capital for him when no objective analysis led to a "win now" take.

It's was terrible in real time and even worse with hindsight bias. Completely inexcusable from any rational viewopint.

That would possibly work if he wasn't already old. There is no "long game" with him.

We spent a 4th on a kid with 4 receptions.

Saints are also currently 29 out of 32 in points per game on offense.

and 25 out of 32 on points given up on defense.

In good faith I'd like to think they wouldn't have fricked up that 4th round pick but they most certainly could have. An early 4th at the way we're going now.
