Rattler earned the start.
Did Rattler earn the start? Or did Shough simply not earn the start? Those are not the same.

You going to play the other dude instead just because he was a high draft pick?
Uhh yeah that's usually how that works. The only reason you don't play Shough is if Rattler is the franchise QB and hes probably not. Even if Rattler is "the guy" at some point we will be eliminated from playoffs and then Shough finishes the season.
quote:
Rattler was also a draft pick
Rattler was a 5th and Shough was a 2nd. They weren't both 2nds, they are not equal prospects.
quote:
Rattler has been here longer.
Which is the main reason he's currently starting and not because they think he's the future QB without even giving Shough a chance.

His won / loss record says otherwise.

No idea what they knew behind the scenes, but going into the draft I do not believe they suspected retirement was a possibility (hence the reworked contract given to him in March
Carr didn’t retire yet, but it was reported before the draft he was out for the year. That’s why everyone had us picking a qb. And Carr was going to get cut after the third year. Either way his career with us was over.
It was a panic move. I said at the time it was a really really stupid move drafting an old qb that early. I’m fine if you want to take him in the 4th, the third we used Broughton wouldn’t be great either but way better than burning #40 on with the amount of holes on this roster.
We could have easily got a starting corner, tight end, or edge guy with that pick.

And all those picks could be a bust mr 20/20.
Think for a minute no matter how hard 20/20.
If as you say it’s a rotten pick why would any other pick there not be rotten as well?

Is he at this point just a wasted pick? If we’re gonna go with rattler, what’s the purpose of spending a top 40 pick on a backup QB when there were other positions that could help this team develop.
Just pisses me off
So, we are 5 games into a player's rookie season. He has not played a meaningful down yet and you think he is a bust.
This season of all seasons with the number of late developing QB's winning games, you are busting out a guy who has not taken a meaningful snap after 5 games.
Some of you people are insane.

Thanks for the original OP that definitely has not been discussed daily. We will just add this thread to the massive pile of shite ones covering and saying the exact same thing

I wish we got will Johnson in round 2.
Not because I don't think shough will be good or not. But because the value was ripe for the taking for a young stud duo to build up.

I love these type of replies. Almost as original as the post.

Did I call him a bust?
I’m sorry your ready comprehension is shite.
I asked if he was a wasted pick based on us relying on rattler.
Learn to read you fricking tard

Until Shough gets his chance we know nothing.
Until Shough proves he's a good QB, he will be acknowledged for what he is. A dart throw. He's done nothing on a football field to suggest that he's a good qb. His measurables don't mean anything, you have to PRODUCE. He was drafted as a project, nothing more.

I could've, but then you would never learn your lesson. Hopefully it sticks to save you future embarrassment and us future frustrations

Not a chance bud.
The only lesson to learn here is for you to ignore things that bother you, squirt

Going by Shoughs age and the fact that’s he’s played on numerous different college teams, and has injury issues. I think his bust rate is elevated compared to other prospects.
What other prospect got drafted higher than him at his age or older?
He could turn out ok, crazier stories have happened at that position, like Kurt Warner. Chances are to slim to burn 40 on tho. A team with this many holes shouldn’t take chances like that.

Even if I agree with this it doesn't matter because we did take the chance. So its 10x worse if we don't play him. Absolutely pointless to be upset about that after the fact.
Fans should be even less upset simply because of what we've seen from Dart/ Ward so far. There's nothing those guys have done to say that they were worth an early first or that Shough ends up worse than them for the value.
The fans that legit don't want to play Shough because they don't like that we drated him are way worse than any fans blindly sunshine pumping either of Shough/ Rattler.
2 of the reasons Shough ended up a top 3 QB in the draft is because his arm is possibly as strong or stronger than Cam Ward's and because he played in multiple systems with a good IQ.
We really have people still making "Shough had injuries" comments? Pretty small minded thinking all things considered.

Rattler can’t be our future. He’s average at best. I know his fan boys on here will tell you different but it’s the truth. Also if the coaches think Shough isn’t as good as Rattler, well we have a real problem next season. One of them should be here in 26’ We either going to have to find our quarterback through free agency, trade or draft.

Not hindsight. This scenario was posted about when he was drafted.
