Troy Fautanu seems to be the perfect fit for us

He's got alot of LT production, elite athleticism, VERSATILITY, no injuries, doesn't miss games, and he just looks solidly built. Not flabby, lanky or awkward like some other guys. Most important his character is constantly being highlighted, "hard nose", "coaches player", etc.
Yes, guys like Latham/Alt may have higher ceilings but I also see them as higher bust potential as well.
Alt - not falling to us, not worth trading up for, think he's a little overhyped
Latham - absolute freak but played RT, maybe too big/slow
Fuaga - solid overall prospect, played RT, bigger but not as athletic as Troy, awkward build
Mims - huge bust potential
Barton - like this guy as well, looks like he'll be more interior, guard/center. But played alot of LT in college
Fashanu - like him as well, better frame for LT, not as athletic. Still think Troy is the better player.
I don't think anyone else is worth the reach at #14 but, could see us trading back for a guy like Guyton.
Fautanu may be a tad undersized at 6'4 317 lbs but he's got longer arms. He may translate more to G in the long term but he's the type of player who's ready to go and will hold his own no matter what he's asked to do.
PFF has him as the #3 lineman prospect, only Alt/Fuaga ahead of him, Fashanu/Latham behind him. Also I haven't seen many mocks that have him taken ahead of #14 so maybe he can fall into our lap. If you're dead set on O-line in the 1st Rd, I think this is our guy.

Would love that pick tbh. Seems like a guy we’d pick.

I think hes a good pick plus honestly you can trade down, pick up some extra picks and still get him.

Isn't there some question about whether he is a LT or may eventually end up inside?

This doesn't fit the mold of someone we would take in the first round.

Not likely. He's getting alot of buzz with seattle(16). I'd love to cut those frickers off

Yea maybe try reading the OP. He's the most versatile OL in the draft and can play anywhere, teams are definitely interested in him playing inside as well. I think he can do more than just hold his own at LT. Is he a hair undersized? Maybe, but the game is getting faster/smaller so who knows.
6'4 317lbs w/ 34.5" arms is not small imo. Especially when you look at the build on this guy. He's a solid 317lbs. Not 330 with 30 lbs of titties and gut.

We need a lt/LG this year, likely rt next year.
We won't fix it at one time, but if he's there and he's a plus guard or tackle for 10 years who cares. Guards will cost as much as tackles soon enough

The saints heavily prioritize athleticism early in the draft
Latham didn’t test at the combine or pro day with no reported injury, I think we all know why something like that happens. He’s unlikely to be the pick
Fautanu
Guyton
Fuaga
Mims
Olu Fashanu
All scored 9.4 or higher on RAS and will be picked between 8 and 25 (Alt qualifies but very likely gone before 14)
One of those 5 players is VERY likely to be in a saints uniform in 2024.

No injury history may get him taken off the Saints board.

I’d be ok with drafting Latham or Fuaga. Obviously I’d be ok with drafting Alt. All those guys have upside. I’d be let down if we passed on Fautanu for anyone else. Fashanu would be a solid pick at 14. Anyone else I think is a reach. I’d rather trade back or consider a different position group.

That statement always makes me laugh. Saying someone is undersized when they're 300+, holy shite
From Snipe's post in another thread:

- Eluded to the new offense style being aggressive/nasty "fun to watch" and running the ball being a big focus.
That undersized, elite athleticism, VERSATILITY could be exactly what they need across the entire o-line.

I wouldn't mind him, but would it be possible to trade back and still land him?

Anything is possible but I highly doubt it. He's likely going to Seattle at 16. IDK if I painted this picture correctly but this is not your typical saints sleeper pick. This guy is a top 5 O-line prospect. You could make the argument he's second to none. Kiper said he could be the best overall lineman in the draft.

Nothing wrong with grabbing him.

Well, if Kiper said that...PASS

Saints will draft a safety

Think the concern was with his arm length. But he ended up having longer arms than guys like Alt and Olu
I do think Fuaga ends up at G

Has skills but very few reps in football and at RT. We need a no doubt pick in the first two rounds.
