I've heard from several places now that with the limitations of the top 8 teams in this year's free agency that there could be more trades than seen in many years.

Who could be moved? Who could be of interest? Who ya got?

Move- Jammal Brown, I like him but his knees seem so fragile now I'd hate to be tied up to him long term.

Get- maybe discontented Osi Umenyiora, has proven to be somewhat one dimensional as a pass rusher. That's a dimension we could use across from Smith.

I really get the feeling Bush to Seattle is more likely than I thought a few weeks ago. They need any kind of spark they can get, plus all the talk of his salary, in an uncapped year it won't phase them at all. Paul Allen wipes his arse with $8m dollar bills.

For the right price, why not?

Leroy Hill or Aaron Curry (another WFer) could be attractive.

A 2nd escalating to a 1st+ with performance clauses.

I could see Spiller, Best, or McCluster added in replacement

Jammal Brown would be the person Seattle needs more then Reggie I would like draft pick instead of Leroy Hill or Aaron Curry

I have been confused. Is it possible to actually trade RFA in the NFL?

Brown, Bushrod, and Moore are all RFA and are our biggest potential trade pieces IMO outside of Bush.

that's very true!

Do the package-

Jammal + Reggie + our #64

for

Aaron Curry, Justin Forsett, & #6 + #38 pick

Yeah, you can trade them. Say you tender Brown to a 1st and 3rd rounder instead of a first because you don't want a team like GB signing him and getting a pick in the mid 20s*. Then comes along, say, Washington with a pick in the teens. They tell the Saints they want to negotiate with him, but they don't want to give up both a 1st and 3rd. The Saints can negotiate the price to, say, just their first. You will rarely (never?) see a team offer a straight up pick for a highly coveted RFA without agreeing to a longterm deal first.

*We would probably jump on a pick in the mid 20s for JB.

I've thought about this since the reports came out and I'd be all for it as long as they can pick up a DT in the mold of Pat Williams to put along side of him. No offense to Ellis, but he gets abused by double teams often.

He needs help and he wouldn't be abused. There is a reason why they double team him.....I think Osi would want too much for a one diminsional player. I think we should work on getting Dorsey.

Really?! They're not giving up Curry this soon. Forsett is their best offensive weapon. And I can't believe you actually think we could get their #6 out of this!

Money is not an issue. He has 3 years remaining and would only cost us right around $4m in each of the next 3 years since the Giants have already paid his guaranteed cash. He wants to be traded because of playing time issues. I really don't know what to think of him. I think there's definitely a risk in trading the 32nd pick for him. Our second rounder, I would jump on that.

Osi isn't in the same league as Allen. Again, he wants to be traded because he doesn't get playing time, i.e. the Giants don't think he's very good.

Sure, he could come in and be a 10 sack guy, but he could just as easily suck balls. Plus his contract only has 3 years left on it vs. 4 or 5 cheaper years you would pay a draft pick with similar risks.

Osi will cost to much and his skills have gone down a lot the last the few years.

Still a solid contributer but not for the price the Saints will have to pay

Jammal Brown for a 1st or 2 2nds.

A good trade team might be Green Bay for their 23rd pick.

anyone hear all the talk how there might be more trades than ever cuz of the restrictions on the top 8 teams?

Kinda kewl to me. One thing I like about beisbol hotstove time is all the blockbuster trades.

I'm a fan and supporter of Reggie and all of'em but it is intriguing to think what deal they could get for him, Brown, etc. As the patriots have proved in this era to be continuously successful you have to be adaptable, flexible, and cannot keep players at any price (cept maybe a gold QB).

Good grief this whole thread assumes that Jamaal Brown is going somewhere. Did you people not see how Bushrod got mercilessly abused this year? He had to have given up 10 sacks. Jamaal Brown isn't going anywhere.
