I suppose if not turning the ball over is the new standard we don't have a right to expect much offense out of Bridgewater.

No, no we wouldnt. This board was very concerned towards the end of the year last year after the carolina, bucs and dallas games

Teddy is basically Tim Tebow during his broncos run right now. Which is fine. You can win games at that level with elite defense, ST, and some luck.

The issue is the expectation when we traded for him and signed him for 7.5 million was that we were getting a starter caliber guy as a back up. Instead we got an average to above average backup. Teddy is no better than Kyle Allen, Gardner Minshew, Chase Daniel, mason rudolph, jacoby brisset, etc.

Is that being hard on him? I think it’s just being realistic about what he is. Which is less than what we hoped/thought, but still enough to get the job done

The Saints didn't have one play go for over 20 yards last Sunday.

Teddy is terrible, but thank God the defense and special teams are playing their absolute best right now.

Those other backups have all looked more capable this year actually

Why because he is black? Stop viewing the world in a very blurred lens. Not every person of color that is criticized is due to race and/or racism. That shite is getting old and people need to evolve out of that mindset.

I can understand why some are frustrated with Teddy, but I am also in the "believer" camp. I think he throws the ball with high accuracy and velocity and he add a legit scramble element to the position.

Our team is still getting used to him as our starter. He likes to roll out of pressure. Drew liked to step into the pocket. Our tackles are used to pushing pressure to the outside. They need to adjust and funnel pressure back into the middle to give Teddy open space to the outside.

With Drew, our WRs are used to the ball coming to them before they 50-75% through their routes. Teddy likes to get ball out when the WR is about 90% finished with his route. That stuff matters. Our WRs have to progress though their routes differently. Our line has to protect differently. No matter who steps in for a HOF QB there are going to be adjustment pains.

If you were to say that the Saints should have found a player that is closer to Drew's skill set, I sort of see that argument, but how many other players play the game like Drew? Teddy is a really good QB, but he brings a different type skill set. We are surviving with him without having to completely readjust our offense. I'll take that any day.

Mason Rudolph has struggled to throw the ball downfield too. Actually less air yards per attempt than Bridgewater

Didn't Kyle Allen have 3 lost fumbles last week?

Edit: He has 5 fumbles in the past 2 games

That is exactly what we need to avoid with this team. I'm hoping the offense shows more life this week too, but turnovers would be disastrous.

Teddy B has looked like a serviceable backup QB at best but the fact is that other than Mike Thomas, the receivers have not helped him.

Ginn, Cook and Hill have all dropped passes that would have been huge.

He really needs to make decisions faster.

I would argue his cadence at the line of scrimmage is what's making Armstead seem off too.

yep. garbage

not sure how many more games the saints can keep pulling off without a big offensive performance. won games we shoulda lost now the classic bucs games where we should win but just might lose. the offense needs to get in gear. we cannot rely on D and ST forever. ask les miles about that.

Exactly. Terron Armstead barely touched the pass rusher on two 4th quarter sacks.

If that happened and they lost, would there be "get rid of Armstead" threads?

I mean, it is a team game, right? Bridgewater didn't have a chance.

You counting that play where the center clearly snapped the ball early?

With all the threads and post about Teddy and why this and why that the one thing I have not read or seen is are the wr's running wide open or are they covered up most plays?

You can see this if your at the dome or watching game film.

Neither is my case

Not everything is some conspiracy against someone because of how they look. New Orleans is one of the most accepting cities in the south

5 fumbles in 2 games

Minshew

Clearly going to be their franchise QB going forward.

quote:

Rudolph

Also several turnovers

quote:

Brisset

Absolutely better, and is no longer their backup.

We've also played 2 very hard games in that time, and Teddy is completing around 74% in those 2. He needs to be better, but I think we'll see more downfield stuff this week and less of a game manager role.

Ok. He also has 4 tds, 70 more yards passing, and a passer rating 30 points higher than Teddy

He has been far better

Rudolph has 1 more turnover than Teddy. But he has 4 more tds

He has also been better than Teddy

I dont hate teddy. In fact, I really like the guy. But the only way we win games with him as QB with his current play is for the defense and ST to be lights out. We have zero margin of error with him. I expected more from him considering the contract

5 turnovers in 2 games is far, far, FAR worse. That is catastrophic. I just don't agree with this part at all.

Not to mention that his stats are heavily inflated by Arizona where he had 4 TDs. He came down to earth vs the Texans and was downright awful. Saints lose either game with how he played vs the Texans

I agree. And I think we'll see a complete change in the game plan this week against a much different team and defense. Hopefully he can execute

everything is teddy's fault man try and keep up. Any success he has is strictly because of the talent around him and not because of him. He is the Saint's version of Les Miles.
