I think Hicks would aid that just fine. I could see him and Bunkley destroying the middle, collapsing it to generate a really good pass rush. Sedric Ellis is just not able to do anything like that.

Can Harper play weakside LB or is he too small? He could be a DB used to blitz, and slide down to LB when we go 5 DB's/2LB's.

Hawthorne looked bad in pre-season, and really bad today. So someone needs to step it up there.

that's not what spags' D does

we need 3 quality pass rushing DEs. we have 0 right now

Hicks would give them a better pass rush then with 3 DE's in. What 3 DE's are you gonna use for the pass rush? Smith, Gallette, and Jordan?

Harper should be the first 2-down safety in the league. He should never be in the game on obvious passing downs. Never. If that hurts his pride, too bad, he's screwed us for 6 years.

Jenkins isn't helping much either. He never locates the ball. He just dives all over the place, head first, kamikaze style. He leaves INTs on the field every game because he's trying to destroy guys. He did it today at least once today, that I saw.

I can see cam jordan and will smith both sliding inside on 3rd and pasing downs..if we had guys behind them that could get to the qb on the end and allow the move.

The announcers on TV made a very, very interesting comparison during the game. They said in 2 other places that Spags implemented his defense, their defenses gave up 80 points in the first 2 games of the season, and then improved dramatically. Maybe he's trying to get them to learn too much too fast and it just takes time for the players to catch on. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway. If the offense clicks, Breesus and Co. can bail out the defense.

I know what you guys are sayin, i just think this Hicks kid is fast enough and quick enough from what he's shown to be more effective at generating a pass rusher better than an end sliding inside.

well, this defense is supposed to be much more complicated than GW's so I'll give them a pass.

If it only takes 2-4 games for this D to get with the system, I'll be very impressed.

It can take up to a year for a team to install a new defense.

I hope it's just the 1st game and well against a guy in RG3 that's hard to prepare for, obviously Cam is the type of guy but we've faced him before. Either way i'm going to give it some time, even all the way into next year when Spags may be able to get some more guys in draft with a 1st pick or something

RG3 didn't kill us on the ground, or even his scrambling keeping plays alive. Plain and simple our secondary left receivers wide open, like not even close to them.

Redskins playcalling had them on their heels. Im not sure they are as bad as they looked today.

:kige:
Remember how bad the defense looked last year at GB?

D-line was a non factor again. Meanwhile, the Redskins got the better of our O-line IMO.

Man I just went for a long walk with my dog and I was remembering how it wasn't that long ago that I was watching our defense against Arizona and got excited at how great our Dline looked.

Feel so stupid for caring about preseason, but i mean I think we all though that this would be similar to the turnaround we was in 2009 under new coordinator.

they weren't terrible against the run but in passing situations, they looked no different from last season.

i think some of it had to do with those scripted plays the Redskins ran early on where RG3 was just throwing those quick passes to the outside. But at no point, where our guys getting off the ball quicker than what they were last year.
