The onus is on you to prove a guy with 4 catches in 6 games will work out. You ignore shite production and a reduced role set forth by CKM.

You and your buddy are name calling posters for questioning this trade. However, the coaching staff you trust has reduced his role three straight weeks. This isn’t BigJ or SFP telling you it may not be working here

Listen to yourselves - you’re trying to sell us on catches called back due to penalty. That should tell you all you need to know. Jack Stoll is a new guy, he’s breathing down Vele’s neck at 3 catches for 28 yards. MVS came off the street last year and balled.

Again you made a whole thread bitching about a guy. Vele would get cut and you’d be like hold on let’s wait and see.

i have no onus. i've said two strong things about discussing Vele. I said a few weeks ago that i'll give it to next year and see how things go. Any strong opinion right now is sky screaming for the sake of just being miserable.

If someone's opinion was, i sort of rather keep the pick but i'm willing to see how he does over 2 years... cool. Fair take. But this every week bullshite of expecting someone to be a pro bowl player immediately or we will declare you a bust is obnoxious and retarded.

Saints have played 7 games. He has dealt with 2 injuries. 1 game played he barely played and was still hurt. He has done well with balls thrown his way and a couple unfortunate team penalties took away some much needed production away from Vele for some fans to see that he is a decent player. I mean, having 2 td's in 5 games really would be something to build on.

And its all predicated on an offense with a first year head coach, an O line that's been hit and miss, a run game that's been bad at times, Olave and Juwan getting a ton of the targets, charlie check down spencer, and we're passing less than 200 ypg. Vele is likely a sympton of the overall offense not getting into full gear.

Its just really strange we want to sit here and only yell about Vele but nobody here is bitching about Bub Means. Vele's 2 years in the pros will likely have 6-8 x's the production we've gotten out of bub.

Well Chad, 4 catches in six games is miserable. I don’t know what else to tell you? This guy was supposed to be a plug and play guy, not some green 22 year old rookie. All we gears about was this guys rookie production. On what planet were we expected to have to develop this guy?

You need to get on the field consistently before accumulating production. You describe this offense as bad but this guy can’t get on the field. You are condemning Vele without even realizing it

And bub means effectively played 3 games last season and eclipsed 29 yards in all of those games. He was a 23 yo rookie

Yea, I’m done reading or discussing this topic with you. I’m an intellectual that can see a big picture and you just can’t stop repeating this simpleton line. I gave you an extremely fair response but you want to shite in Cheerios. That’s your goal. Have fun bro.

And Vele had 41 receptions last year.

I didn't outright hate the trade at the time, didn't love it either. It was let's see

Now...it looks pretty goddamn bad currently. He should be playing most snaps on offense

Vele played almost a split share of slot and X with Denver. So one would surmise he’s versatile enough to get looks at both spots for us. Cooks Shaheed Olave are all sub 6’ - this guy is 6’5”. Juwan Johnson is your size guy and he has struggled. 32 y/o Cooks is averaging 45 snaps a frickin game on a 1 win team

Well ya had this guys for 3 years on a rookie deal and it’s about to be 2. He’ll be 28. Hasn’t seized a ripe opportunity. If the taste of this is anything but sour right now you don’t live in reality

In addition, if the team didn't have a vision for him, why did they trade for him?

On paper it made great sense

He hasn’t been on the injury report since week 4. His snaps have been declining since week 5. Just play him!

i think the Olave situation is a huge dynamic not being talked about enough.

are we really trying to trade him?

are we trying to build up his trade value?

Not saying its an entire story but its definitely part of the WR room story right now.

Exactly, what’s worse is the Cooks signing. They were making fun of the Saints in the radio this morning. Makes zero sense to sign him at this point in time. The trade would make more sense if it never happened. But you paying top tier #3 money and then a real good draft pick to fill the number 3 and 4 spots on a team going no where.

I sure hope so. We need that 4th back from Vele.

A top 100 pick for two years of play on a team going nowhere is fricking asinine. Add to it that the guy will be 30 by then and it’s football malpractice. This team is going absolutely no where while Loomis is still running things.

I’m confused, this board said Carr sucked, the rest of the roster still sucked. Loomis still thought we were going to be competing?

You still signed Cooks to be your #3 the next two years. So we payed a premium pick for a situational #4? Or a large chunk of guaranteed money for a #4 (Cooks) after the trade? Either way, a horrible look by management.

Loomising!
He pulls some more shite like this and pitch forks should come out or everyone boycott the team until he's removed.

You have to analyze these moves in real time, not with hindsight bias.

What do they have to do with each other? Post-draft, what was the cost of Means to the Saints? Nothing.

Not as confused as you and Loomis. I knew what this team and roster was. It should have been stripped bare to get out of cap hell this year and he just went in deeper.

He can’t see the forest through the trees. It’s why someone from the outside has to come in and clean this mess up.

Hindsight bias.

That’s almost legendary.
