With that said, what will be the market for him coming off the ACL surgery?

Definitely the key. These days, the ACL injury isn't as much of a concern as it used to be, unless there's some post surgery issues.

And while SP isn’t here, it’s still his offense; so Winston may feel more comfortable coming back…if the team makes a commitment to him

Agreed. Didn't I read TB was interested or is that not true? Comfort at either stop.

Whatever we do I think we all agree it needs to be with a swiftness.
With the market the way it is this year(can't remember a worse year to need a QB) they will go quickly. Not a year for caution or the slows when it comes to getting your next signal caller.

I'm ready already. Off season football is like...off season stripping.

It's going to be Jameis. They're making moves to keep the team intact as best as possible from last year plus getting Thomas back. If it doesn't work they blow it up next offseason.

If we can afford Winston. He may get decent money this off season.

Which is where I am hoping some teams will shy away from him because they can't get an accurate evaluation without a full physical; and what problems will he have with trying to learn the offense without being able to fully practice.

I would also imagine any team w a new coach that needs a QB will stay away in the off chance there are some issues that could delay his progression and time with the offense.

Other than people throwing his name out there on this board, and a few what if speculation articles, I have not seen anything. Not that that is saying much, I really haven't gone out and looked for any Saints info independent of this board.

Could we afford both JW and Teddy

Book stays firmly on PS for now and Taysom continues to do his thing.

Damn jameis must have had sore cheeks after that 30 interception season, oh that's right, he doesn't smile after everytime he screws up like Brooks.

Plus I must have missed jameis Backwards pass

If I could get one this off-season out of that group it would be Watson. Still young, and in his prime and he was a top 5-10 qb in the league before his legal issues.

We’d own the South for another half decade at least.

You’re takes on multiple boards suck. I hope you’re trolling, because if not; your life is a joke.

This is a lazy arse comparison simply because both QBs are black. Just based off college careers alone, Winston is far more accomplished. Brooks never threw for 30 TDs or 5K in a season. Winston was on pace to throw for 30+ TDs & a much lower INT number than we saw in his last season as an NFL starter. The frick is wrong with people.

They also wear the same number

Was curious so ran a comparison on stathead

AB: 93 games, 56.5 comp%, 20,261 yds, 123 TDs, 92 Ints, 14 other TDs
JW: 83 games, 61.2 cop %, 20,982 yds, 135 TDs, 91 Ints, 11 other TDs

Winston has slightly better stats in a friendlier time for QBs. However, for those that can look at the entire picture, they will see that JW's stats are drastically slanted because of 2019. Appears his other 5 years (including 2021) would indicate that 2019 is the outlier.

Mitch Trubisky

Dude led the Bears to the playoffs, twice. And he just got a full year of coaching from Brian Daboll.

Winston did win five games for us last year with out a number one receiver. Give him a chance if it doesn't work out then scrap it and start over. I do not think there is a franchise QB in this years draft either. And with our cap space problems it will be hard to afford a good veteran qb from another team.
