The Saints draft so far has the feel of a New England Patriots draft to me

New England always marches to their own drummer when it come to the draft, placing a premium on character, intelligence, and system fit.

The 3 guys the Saints took in rounds 1-3, Turner, Werner, and Adebo are all highly intelligent, high character players . They all also have good size for their positions.

Turner and Werner went a little higher than predicted, but the Saints seem to have a type of player they're looking for.

I don't hate any of the picks

God I hope not, because the Pats historically have drafted terribly under Belichick.

That’s not true. They consistently picked at the end of each round because they won. You don’t have the kind of success they have had if you are terrible at drafting. They have leveraged their picks to acquire players via trades...like the one that sent Randy Moss to New England. Top 10 Trades under Belechick

No they drafted that way because they had a HOF qb in an awful division

That's not a compliment actually. Because the Patriots since 2015 have been the worst team in the league drafting players. The players they've drafted have played the least amount of games for the team. Not a good Stat at all. Brady covered up their drafting issues.

Yeah, but the Patriots tend to average more total picks than any other team by gaming the compensatory pick system. So, their hit rate is lower, but they make up for it on volume.

I think it’s clear the OP is referring to drafting players that fit their system by the metrics they’ve set for their success. He’s not saying the Patriots draft well.
