So far the players the saints lost for sure are the following. (If I missed any that are gone for sure please let me know.)

Drew Brees- The greatest Saints in the franchise history but his injuries crippled us last year.

Emanuel Sanders- Our number 1 receiver last year but brought in as a number 2. I’ll take a healthy Thomas over him any day.

Kwon Alexander- A great addition but only played 4 or 5 games. Not really a big deal.

Jared Cook- He was once a good player but was a liability last year.

Thomas Morstead- A saints legend but he was bad last year.

Janoris Jenkins- a great number two corner. This one will hurt. Looks like that is a priority to replace though.(Richard Sherman is a name being thrown around but I expect there will be a replacement signed soon)

Trey Hendrickson- He balled out last year. We will need Davenport and Cam to perform better to make up for losing him.

Malcolm Brown- A really good rotational piece on the D Line but the saints have a lot of depth there.

Josh Hill- Great locker room guy. Always did his job. Was never a star but definitely sucks to lose.

There are some other players that aren’t starters that are also up for grabs but haven’t been signed anywhere. Overall these losses really aren’t that bad. This roster will still be more than good enough to compete for the division.

i disagree. a healthy kwon would have been huge... cap manipulations would have been difficult. i hope kwon comes back somehow still.

WR will be pretty easy to fill given the market this year.

We are in deep, deep trouble currently at DT/LB/CB.

I’m basing it off their performance last year and the saints ability to put a competitive roster together. Our performance last year was really not impacted by Kwon. Since he didn’t play long last year I don’t consider him a player that impacted the saints season. I’d love to have him back too but his injuries make his value very low.

Not sure if it was official but I saw a report that they planned to release him by Josina Anderson. Maybe they came back to the negotiating table.

So losing good players won’t hurt because the guys that couldn’t start in front of them will be just as good or better.

Makes sense to me.

Yeah and it looks like they intend on addressing corner through free agency. The nice thing about linebackers is you can get them outside the first round pretty easily. They have a lot of comp picks that they can throw at some linebackers. Defensive tackle I think they will be alright at. We will see if they do end up getting brown or rankins back. I’d expect those three holes you mentioned to be a focus in free agency and the draft. I wouldn’t be shocked if they draft another receiver this year too.

Go post somewhere else. You are still salty that LSU didn’t get a coach. Take your miserable shite back to the Rant

You should probably split this between players cut and players signed somewhere else. There were some rumors/thoughts that some of the players cut would be resigned for a lot less sometime after the league year starts on 3/17. The team just needed to clear some room and get creative with some of the other players first.

Yeah I figured somebody like Gmoney would make a much more thorough one. I just tossed together the key players that had been cut or signed elsewhere for now. I’ll sit down tonight and make a much more detailed one.

The main goal of this post was something that reasonable fans could actually talk about. Just pointing out these rosters losses weren’t as bad as they seem on the surface. There are way too many negative posts on here right now.

I disagree here too. I thought our defense was “next level” good with Kwon. We had a pretty noticeable hole at LBer next to Davis for years before Kwon came on board. Kwon’s impact was instantly noticeable on an already good defense.

Overall though we all knew this off season was going to hurt. That is a lot of quality talent lost that will be hard to replace. It was probably the deepest, best roster on Saints history. That list is tough to read for Saints fans.

LB and CB, yes... DT, no...

Onyemata, Tuttle, Roach is more than servicable... Brown is a great run stuffer and it showed, when you look at our run defense when he was out vs. when he was in, but to say we are in "deep" trouble at DT is just factually incorrect

I agree with you on LB/CB, but think were in pretty good shape at DT. I see no reason why we wouldn't be able to find a suitable replacement for Brown.

Like you I watched Saints games this year. They looked good even being green. They rotated in a lot as you well know and seems the coaches like them too.
