This. I expected a classier post from St. Augistine.

Mingo has the talent and just as much production as everyone else in the draft. If anything, I'd say it's the anti-LSU bias that have people tainted on him.

As for not liking players, I'll admit that I didn't like Deuce when we drafted him because he played for Ole Miss. Now he's one of my favorite Saints of all time.

I predict minter having a more glorious longer nfl career than mingo.

I'm not really too critical of who we should draft this year. As long as its on the defensive side of the ball, preferably front 7. Just get us some solid depth.

The one I don't want: Tyler Wilson QB

The one I do want: Lane Johnson OT.

I don't think we shouldn't draft an OT with pick number 15, but I would be happy if we did and the player in question was Lane Johnson.

I guess I'll say I don't want Teo as well.

Why don't you want Mingo?

Because he gets dominated by TE's 1 on 1.

to be fair, that was a great audible by Mccarren to run play action and roll out for a quick release bc he could get man coverage against TM7. definitely a lucky play, but was well executed... he just threw the ball up for grabs bc if that route would have been 1 or 2 more seconds longer Mingo would of come back inside and smoked AJ. It was an excellent play call and execution by bama, but at the same time it was solid pressure and great coverage by LSU.

Mingo isn't my 1st or 2nd choice in rd 1 but I'm not gonna be too disappointed if we draft him. My theory is you can never have enough fast and long OLBs in a 34 defense.

Mingo. Wouldn't touch this guy with a 23 ft pole.

Man, that's just sad. You wouldn't draft a guy who is rated the No.1 OLB in many scouting reports?

There's isn't a sure fire HOF anywhere in this draft...most the defensive guys at the top have issues.

He had solid production, but it comes in spurts, he had 4 against Murray State.

I know everyone plays cupcakes but it sorta a huge resume stuffer. To his credit he also had a huge game against Florida.

Also i wouldn't want Te'o now that guy is all hype.

Werner was one of the most versatile and disruptive defensive ends in the nation who ranks seventh in the NCAA in sacks per game and second in total sacks (13). In 2012, he finished with 42 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 13 sacks and eight pass breakups. He entered the Orange Bowl leading the nation in yards accumulated on tackles behind the line of scrimmage (134). Only one player in FSU history has recorded more sacks in their first three seasons than Werner and that is Peter Boulware.

quote:

After just two years of high school football in the US, Werner amassed 35 TFL, 23.5 sacks, 18 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in three seasons in Tallahassee. He moved into the top 10 all-time at FSU for TFL in just his third season and just 27 career starts. Over his last two seasons, Werner recorded a sack or TFL in 17 of FSU's 27 games and he recorded a tackle in 34 consecutive games. He was one of just four defensive linemen in the NCAA to have eight or more pass break-ups and none of the other three players had more than five sacks compared to 13 for the FSU defensive end and none had more tackles for loss. He had arguably the best game of his stellar FSU career recording 3.5 sacks, a career-high tying six tackles and a fumble recovery for nine yards versus No. 4 Florida in the regular season finale.

I like Werner a lot. He has that effort you need in a defensive end. Motor never stops.

Dion Jordan
24 starts (as best I can tell)
121 tackles
29 tackles for loss
14.5 sacks
4 forced fumbles

Demontre Moore
23 starts
197 tackles
26.5 sacks
1 interception
8 forced fumbles

Barkevious Mingo
15 game starter
119 tackles
29.0 tackles for loss
15 sacks
4 forced fumbles

Bjoern Werner
27 game starter
99 tackles
35 tackles for loss
35 sacks
3 forced fumbles
1 interception

Some stat comparison. Moore was a LBer though, where the rest played DE.

Werner reminds me of Ryan Kerrigan. I think he could play in a 3-4.

the Kent St punter would be a miss but I'd take him before the Florida State guy. Dude had a net of only 26 yards. Just say no to punters.
