As one league source said on Wednesday, if Collins had no connection to the crime of any kind, he should be doing everything he can to meet with police ASAP, so that police can be persuaded to give Collins full clearance before the draft begins. Absent a declaration from the authorities ruling Collins out, how can any team draft him — in any round? So why is Collins delaying the process? One reasonable conclusion would be that Collins has opted to protect his liberty over his draft stock, which means that Collins has reason to believe that, based on what he tells police, he could still become a suspect.
Wait a minute...Collins left Chicago immediately upon hearing the police want to speak with him, is not a suspect, is just wanted for information on the deceased woman, and now Mike Mayock says that Collins isn't doing everything he can to speak with the police?

When I heard Schefter say teams are telling him that Collins may not get drafted I sort of just buttchuckled to myself like yeah, right.

3 different interviewers on the radio this morning all said that Collins may not get drafted unless things clear up quick. That he would be better of in UDFA at this point.

Anyway...

All the reports I've read say he left Chicago to go to Baton Rouge to speak with police in person on information on the dead woman and to take a paternity test for the child, probably because if the child survives it needs to have someone obtain custody.

Have read reports that he has not spoken with police yet.

Exactly what I have been told - he has a solid alibi & paternity is the question. But that will not get him in trouble.

I don't know shite about shite but with BRPD wanting to speak to him, la'el is keeping his cards very tight thus far less than 48 hours before he was previously set to become a multi millionaire. Something stinks, but this is me with no information just speculating on something that has a lot of unknowns.

If I'm a team thinking of Collins I would have invested a lot of cash for a private investigation of this matter.

In the end the info obtained no matter the cost would end up saving you money either by getting him at a great spot in the draft or avoiding him all together.

I've seen those reports too; however, he has not spoken with police as of yet via the latest reports. If all things are accurate, he should be meeting with them today based on the series of events. Still, that doesn't explain why he has been so evasive with them. That's just crazy to me whether you are guilty or innocent. It's almost as if his agent was suggesting he ignore it until after the draft to prevent the story from getting worse. Who knows.

Word I am hearing is the Saints will take him at 31. They have spoken with police & are not concerned.

That's complete bullshite.

The police are not going to discuss any element of a murder case that is, at this point, based upon circumstantial evidence. Considering the crime is recent, the investigation is just starting and no information is being distributed to the public. If there's a leak in the police department, the person leaking info could be charged with obstruction of justice....not a good thing in a murder case.

Here is what I can post:

The Saints want Beasley & are willing to trade up to 7. They will take Collins if he is there at 31.

Collins is totally innocent - some teams have dumped - some teams are still on board - he will not last past 40.

I have shared my sources w Chad. These people are definitely in the know - maybe they are lying to me but seems legit.
