I cannot remember such a level of cowardice from one of the major sports leagues in this country in my lifetime. This honestly feels like something that would happen in a second tier European soccer league that is rife with corruption.

At the very least make a statement saying “An incorrect call was made on the field Sunday. We are investigating how this occured.” But to say nothing still after 48 hours would be the same as a company causing an oil spill type catastrophe and saying nothing.

I knew Goodell and his ilk were lying manipulators, but I didnt know they were this cowardly as well.

The silence is what tells me this is every bit as bad as it looks, and that the NFL is legitimately afraid if having to answer questions under oath.

Don’t expect one any time soon either. The bad optics of not issuing a statement just received cover from the lawsuit filled. NFL will just say they cannot comment because of the pending litigation. Attorneys will drag this on until after Super Bowl, judge will dismiss, and they will never issue a statement because most of America will have moved on to baseball, nba playoffs, and draft.

No person or organization ever speaks after a lawsuit has been filed.

They know they screwed up and they're scrambling.

100% correct. just told my pal, this is the equivalent of a murder, we have the forensic evidence and DNA. now the murder happened from someone in a large group evidence traces to said group (team of officials, goodell, head of refs). who gets the blame? who will be the scapegoat? can they get most guys off the hook? what will punishment be?

they are scared shitless because they know they are nailed. it is all damage control now and see who takes blame.

Roger Goodell can't really say publicly: "New Orleans Saints and Sean Payton -- suck my dick." So, silence is a nice way to say "frick you, Saints."

i dont have the link but laughingly today the NFL fired and assistant supervisory VP for referees, not the true VP or even the head of the referee supervisory office!!!! such a clear case of keeping those who rigged the games for them all year and scapegoating some lower level assistant to blame it all on him.?

And that ‘frick you, saints’ is a bigger frick you due the petty nfl investigation of the laser pointer on tom brady in the afc championship

I wish I were a billionaire so badly. I’d buy every single Super Bowl ticket (i’d offer $4,000 to every single person with a ticket), donate every single one to Saints fans, bus them all to Atlanta, and have them all dress in Saints gear and boo and chant Who Dat during the entire game to ruin the entire Super Bowl like they did to us.

I agree 100% with you

But copy and paste this onto the MSB and watch how different the reaction is. People (outside of saints fans) are already tired of hearing about it. Soon, it will stop being talked about on ESPN and NFL Network and be forgotten about until the competition committee meets over the summer and it’ll hop back in the news briefly... oh well, business as usual I guess

The NFL has been a shite show of an organization for years.

Do not patronize it.

Considering there have already been lawsuits filed, if they are gonna ever release a statement, it’s gonna be specifically worded by lawyers.

Don’t expect anything until way after the super bowl.

I'm sure the National Fraud League lawyers will not allow anything to be said about the no call.
Goodall make $40 million per year. Why would he care?
He was fat, happy, and watching the AFC championship game. He looks like he could care less about what happened to the Saints.

Their actions are exactly what I expected. Silence, no response, wait it out, only to later release a statement that it was logistically impossible to address the situation with only two weeks between the Championship game and the Super Bowl.
