Knew this was coming when we tried to ship him out for Watson..

He's not going to do us any favors

You definitely pay him but don't be surprised if the saints number is way lower than what he wants.

I could see this one dragging out.

I'm not sure what you pay him. Guess the top slot corners are probably reasona

That's the problem. He wants more than that imo.

If if was 4 yrs 35 mil it wouldn't be a problem.

There was never any indication that we were shipping him out for Watson other than a few message board rumors/speculation.

How awkward must it be right now to pick activities to participate and which to sit out?

Per Over the Cap, the current highest-paid slot cornerback in the NFL on a per-year basis is 2019 Detroit Lions signee Justin Coleman. He inked a four-year, $36 million deal that pays him $9 million on average, edging out Baltimore Ravens cornerback Tavon Young ($8.6 million per year) and the recently signed Chris Harris Jr. ($8.5 million per year). Yet, all those players hover around 20th overall in average salary at the cornerback position.

He's worth that, IMO.

That would have to be one hell of a 'pan out' in 2022

no doubt, goat.

i guess i was referring to the excitement around the CBs this early in drills.

successful drafts lead to sustained winning rosters.

I imagine the Saints are happy to pay him top slot CB money. I’m sure his camp is fighting for more than that.

That's a 2019 contract. 3 years old. Inflation would have that 11 million ish per cap increase since then.

That and comments directly from Ceedy.

Link? I only recall some on the board trying to interpret what he posted on social media as a possibility that he would be included. I do not recall him ever saying he was told he was being traded.

Where did you get this outdated info? Coleman was cut by Det back in 2021 and is on a 1 year deal with Seattle for just over $1M. Young was released by Balt in '22 and is on a 1 year deal w Chicago for ~$1M

Why would either of these be the basis of Ceedy's contract?

Payton didn’t tell us he was negotiating with Miami either

Yea, there is no chance any of his comments about being upset about being on the trade block are still on his social media posts, and I am not wasting my time trying to go through countless threads on ST. You can choose to believe it was only rumors, but there was a public post from Ceedy about the move that had another player from the secondary also commenting on it.

This was going down right before it was believed Atl was going to land him and Clev swooped in with their ridiculous contract

I remember the discussion and it was pure speculation on the board trying to decifer a confusion post. There was never a direct quote of anyone saying he was offered in a trade. I think there was speculation that Houston would ask for him.

Oh, that means any speculation that someone formulates must be true then?
