besides maybe Bryce Young, is Hendon Hooker. Get the Sean Payton deal done its the easiest decision possible.

I am ready to be disappointed, but will still have my hopes up anyway. Down vote away but I stand by this.

Lol. I like Hooker but he’s overrated as a prospect by fans. For most teams he will be in the 8-10 range on their boards. We won’t need the Payton package to get him. He will, at the highest, go in the 4th or 5th round.

Overrated based on what exactly? If you watched college football last year he was better than every other QB that's projected top 10. IF the injury doesn't happen he's probably still the favorite for Heisman.

But I agree we don't need a first to get it done, however it would be nice to have a first to draft one of the RB's available. I don't think Hooker is making it past the third round.

I would take Hooker over every QB in the draft not named Young or Stroud.

With his injury, he'll fall to the 3rd or lower, and we should absolutely get him. Run it back with Dalton, and Hooker is ready for 2024 when we have another top 15 pick, plus whatever SP gets us.

He had what, one good season where he imploded when it mattered most?

Will be the steal of the draft. I think it is going to end up where every mock draft has him going later and ends up in round 2-3.

One good season argument is terrible in itself. Look at how many QB's were in the playoffs that you hadn't heard of when they were in college.

He didn't give up 63 points when it "mattered most"

He was quite good for 2 seasons actually.

Yeh, had no idea what TN did last season. Just remember watching him throw all over LSU defense because we'd never seen a slant before

I dont think the Saints need to waste an early pick on a QB as long as DA is here. He's here for 2-3 years to let the salary cap do it's thing then they'll go get a long term fit. Let that guy get his QB

He’s a system guy. Go look at his va tech film. Average at best

Well if your expectations are this high then you likely won't have long to wait.

fwiw, I think Hooker will be a good QB, (though not worthy of a 1st rd pick) provided he has a quality coaching staff to develop him.

New Orleans does not have that atm.

one good season

Yes, he lost to UGA, but so did everyone.

Brandon Weeden looked like a good prospect when he came out of college too.

And so did 1000 other guys.

Perhaps hooker is just a system qb, but none of heupel's qbs at ucf put up 175+ passer ratings. Hooker did it 2 times in a row in the best conference. If he's there in the 3rd, I'd take him

I was more impressed with his WR unit, not so much with any particular "dimes" Hooker threw. Guys seemingly were always wide open. Hyatt & Tillman were game-breakers.

Because being a good college football player doesn't really mean anything as far as whether or not one is a good pro prospect.

Hooker is old, who didn't break out until he was a 5th year senior playing against guys a year or 2 removed from high school. Throw in he doesn't really make progressions or reads and relies on scripted plays and you have someone who isn't a good prospect at all.

I can't wait to bump these threads on day 3 of the draft when Hooker is still on the board.

So Bryce Young is Maybe better than Hooker? And CJ Stroud is third best QB in this draft at best?

Hooker is a risky draft pick and the only way he goes in the first round is if he has a spectacular combine (assuming he is healed enough) or somebody reaches for him as they did for Tebow. Hooker may not even be the first Tennessee player Jaylen Hyatt may be) taken in the draft and may go third round but no higher than mid-second barring what I said earlier.

Yep. Anyone who says that Hendon Hooker looked like the best QB in the country is a casual. He has none of the dynamic ability of a Bryce Young. Hooker is not a creator with the football. One read, ball out or take off. That's it. That's not professional QB play.
