@RapSheet: Luke McCown and the #Saints agreed to terms on a 2-year deal worth $3M, source said. He gets $500K to sign

We needed to sign someone proven. Grayson may be legit in a couple of years, but he hasn't proven anything yet.

Shows such great confidence in Grayson.

Hope he shows in camp!

McCown did pretty well against Carolina this year. Game came down to the wire with an insane josh Norman interception in the endzone to lock it up

Yep and it was a great play by Norman too. He went up and got the ball and make a great int to seal it. And I'll admit not a great decision to throw the corner/fade route to a little Brandin Cooks receiver, and the ball was underthrown also. If the ball would have been to the back pylon it would have been a TD but it was underthrown (somewhat). Because fact is,it was a great defensive play by Norman. And it was also about the worst throw by Luke all game. It it wasn't a bad throw. Just not a good one mixed with a great defensive play. Ao ny point is, McCown did look good and looked like he could win a few games in case of the unthinkable

If you're going to draft a guy in the 3rd round, he needs to be your backup year 2. I hate this.

He did, but they were w/o their best defensive payer.

If Grayson makes a lot of progress this year...McCown will probably be cut next year.

The Saints have mastered the prove it deal. No other team can compete.

I agree the ball should have been deeper, but I wasn't expecting Norman to get up there and make the pick when I watched it live. Great defensive play

-sorry for making everyone relive it haha

Backup QB with Drew as our starter is a want not a must or a need. Based on our cap/roster holes/3rd round investment/monetary investment in Drew this is not a good signing no matter how sunshine pumpers want to spin reality.

1)Grayson - known project pick. Good potential, needed work, which is why he was a 3rd round guy. Saints knew they had time w/ Brees.

2)Brees needs a vet set of eyes - this is why we have Mccown and insisted on getting Flynn when Mccown went down. I think the team might be comfortable if Brees died right now throwing Grayson in there, but if we're talking about Brees being the starter and needing someone to help him assess what he's seeing on the field when he comes to the sideline, I'm more comfortable with it being a vet like Mccown who has been in the league for a long arse time

This is a good insurance policy. And Grayson is going to make all of you people eat your fricking words when Brees is gone because I am absolutely POSITIVE that kid is the future
