Jeff Howe, national NFL writer for The Athletic.

quote:

As the teams await Deshaun Watson's decision, the Falcons have given him a LOT to think about. The lure of playing for his hometown team is very, very strong. @TheAthletic

We get it. He's from Atlanta, and wants to suck at home. Just announce it already

Saints almost seem like an afterthought in that article.

It’s because everyone seems to know but the Saints.

We have to keep the offer in imo. I don't think it affects the trade pieces, but I do think it could affect what Watson signs his immediate extension with the falcons. I want Watson to get as close to what Rodgers got as possible

I say file a grievance against both texans and falcons for bad faith. Just a little cherry on the top

I don't understand what is so hard to pick. If you want to lose for your hometown team, pick Atlanta. If you want to win, Pick the Saints. What's so bloody hard?

It isn't. He has picked already.

Wonder if we offered him some absurd extension if the falcons would match it. Might could play the falcons some back.

We are plan B for sure.

But none of that matters if the Falcons cant turn water into wine with Ryan's contract. The longer this drags out, the more likely he lands in NOLA.

So let's say no trade. How could they still get the needed cap space?

Im not the cap expert on the board. There are a few guys here that know it pretty well, but without a Ryan trade and/or massive restructure, my understanding is that it'll be extremely difficult.

False. He lands in NOLA if the Falcons just tell him they are no longer interested or the Saints offer to pay him sooooo much more than the Falcons, that he has no choice. He had no intention of coming here once he got Atlanta engaged.

Why are y’all torturing yourselves?

This board is literally a retread of the same information over and over again from different sources. Nothing new is gonna come out this weekend.

Of course it is, and it would be for everyone on this board in the same situation.

Reading not your strong suit? Thats precisely what Im saying. The time its taking for Atl to get its financial house in order is an indicator that they may, in the end, not be able to make a deal with Watson work.
