Why are y'all piling on him? He was very obviously trying to punch the ball out. You just saw a Saints secondary player do the exact same thing on the very next play.

Take your glasses off. Davis had him in his grasp and he's going to throw at him like that? That's not how you punch a ball free if the player is wrapped up. Grab and rip at it, sure.

He was definitely "trying" to punch the ball out, he just fricking missed and looked like he was throwing a punch. Still a penalty though.
