And now we have the exact opposite.

Brees had great physical gifts.

He was just in his 40's.

If this season doesn’t get turned around it’s going to be very interesting to see what route they go this offseason as far as coach, QB, and some of our good veterans.

Brees made quick decisions. Based on the coverage, he knew where the ball should be thrown, even if it was a minimal gain. Winston isn't capable of that.

Brees made the offensive line look good not vice versa.

This is the clearest perspective on the current situation the Saints are in.

Exactly - the QB absolutely controls the flow of the game, and this one can't.

What I meant is Brees' mental attributes FAR exceeded his physical skills.

Doesn't matter. Once upon a time we had the consummate professional QB. Now we have a has been.

Not a has been, just not a QB close to Brees. All he wants to do by his own saying is throw the long ball. He can’t read the D, his mind is made up out of the huddle who he wants to throw it to , and he thinks he can use his athleticism to get him out of a jam. Obviously, that is not the case.

When has Jameis Winston ever "been" as a professional QB? Dude was a blowhard his redshirt sophomore year at FSU and his entire rookie deal with a 5th year option.

That 2014-2016 stretch was such a big waste. By the time we actually fielded a good defense, Brees was done.
