Is the guy temperamental? Yes.

Has he been classless in the past? Yes.

Does he hate most of our players? Of course.

Will he air dirty laundry to the press at times? Sure.

I forgot where I'm going with this.

eta: Ah, but maybe, idk, maybe we should. Should we?

The Saints need to find players at minimal cost.

A vet WR who is viewed as "over the hill" but who actually has a couple of years left is probably in the wheelhouse of what we should be looking for.

If we could get him on the cheap, he would be a great addition. He plays hard and plays with passion. He is getting long in the tooth so just just don't over pay.

Steve Smith hit the nerve of a lot of Saints fans on here.

I mean, this isnt Rodney White we're talking about.

A bit is an understatement. He disappeared in games a lot last season. Then again, Carolina's top target was Greg Olsen

Keep in mind his qb was Newton. His numbers would definitely go back up with Brees.

I put money down that he would put the most effort to get down field than the receivers we have right now!

Any one of you bitches who wouldn't welcome him here with open arms is a face liar

Dude tore us to shreds nearly every chance he got.

ya, he's the kind of guy you love if he's on your team...awesome competitor...I remember him lifting our safety up by the facemask relatively recently...pissed us Saints fans off, but I like his fire, and I respect his competitiveness/desire to win.

he's not a #1 receiver anymore...would be awesome in our offense though.

If for cheap without a doubt yes. He may have slowed down a bit at times this year but he still played well imo. I mean right now I'd trust him to make a tough catch or get open more so then Moore, Meach, or Stills.

I don't care if he's as good as Jerry rice, I hate that bastard so much I don't ever want to see him warning black and gold.

Yeah I hated Smith more because he tears us apart and plays in our division. All the assholeness was usually directed at his own teammates because things got heated in practice, or against opponents on the field.

Roddy White I hate as the actual person. frick that piece of shite.

Don't we want to get younger at WR? Also wouldn't veteran minimum be much higher than a young receiver? Also, if he leaves Carolina, the only team where he could give us trouble twice a year is Atlanta. Tampa needs to find a QB first.

No it wouldn't. There is a rule in place that helps older vets hang around. They count the same against the cap as a player with 2 years experience.

The most they'd cost over a pure rookie is $150,000 which is peanuts in cap space.
