Someone please provide solid analysis as to why Taysom can’t start for this team.

Because all you Breesus apologist just say is, “ he’s just a gadget guy, can’t throw, Tebows twin... blah blah but in the darkest deepest corners of your soul you know you are wrong but because it’s blasphemous to say anything bad about Drew you will continue to be in denial. The only things he doesn’t have is experience but I foresee Sean changing that sooner rather than later. He is going to force Sean’s hand because all he does is make plays.

Breesus apologist

Aka people with functioning brains

Maybe he can play, but it will never be near the level of what Brees played at this season. We'll need a great defense and we'll need to surround him with talent, which would also make Brees even better

This offense needs a receiver that can take a slant or crossing pattern to the house. We haven't had that in a bit

He was extremely injury prone in college. Truthfully he has never had a good deep ball, Brees at one point had an accurate deep ball even though his arm wasn’t strong. He may could have a good QB career, but there’s some skepticism.

He was a bad passer at BYU playing mediocre competition. Tough to become good in the NFL when you aren’t good in college.

Is this grammatically possible?

It would be very foolish to go into training camp with Taysom as our starting QB...very foolish.

It could work out for us, but I think it would be unlikely.

It's not smart thing to do when you have a playoff roster.

He's reckless with his body to the point that he can get killed on every play. If he dials it back for longevity he won't be the same player.

You don’t think he knows that himself?

From what I saw he’s pretty accurate enough. He outplayed Teddy in the preseason and the balls he’s thrown connect. I don’t recall instances of terrible accuracy from him.

Give him a chance Lamar Jackson is the MVP in 2020. Who would have thought that a year ago?

If he can be half of what Jackson that would be good enough. We already run their plays with Taysom.

How did that work out for Tom Brady?

It’s not really controversial that his passes have the most zip. With the few chances he’s had this year he’s definitely put them on the money.

Too slow of a release to be a consistent passer in the NFL.

Taysom may wind up being a starter here. I just don’t think he’s someone you settle with and don’t keep trying to get another one via high draft pick or FA. I don’t see him lasting 10 years in this league, he’s already late 20s. But if he’s someone that can keep the ball rolling till we get another QB that’s great.

I would love for Taysom to seamlessly take over for Brees or for him to be the white Lamar Jackson

But he’s not. He’s not a good thrower. He’s below average and while he definitely provides a spark to the offense, he wouldn’t be able to sustain the hits or do half the great shite he does for this team as the QB1.

I wonder if he could run a 49ers style offense, gimmicky type.

So many pro level scouts here who can judge Hill off of so few snaps. Also a huge fallacy to argue he shouldn't get a shot because he can't last ten years. Who cares? You sign him to a friendly contract and see what he can do. If he's a good starting QB, and you get four or five years out of him, why is that a problem?

Kurt Warner burned out fast, but still won a title. Stop obsessing over finding some 15+ year replacement for Brees. The odds of that happening are remote. And just because you can't doesn't mean you keep nut-hugging Brees until you can. People need to accept the fact this team isn't going to the Super Bowl next season with or without Brees.
