So big Rankins got hurt in Chicago. He’s been on IR 3 weeks already, right? So is he eligible to come back this week, anyone read any updates?

He’s eligible but I’m not sure if he’s healthy. We will find out today if he’s on the practice field.

I think they originally said 2-4 weeks, even though 2 was pretty optimistic.

I think he'll be back for the Falcons. It would be a nice surprise if he came back this week.

sorry for him, but the D-line has dramatically improved since he went down...

They just don’t need to be playing him the most snaps. Make him your third DT instead of Tuttle. Brown and definitely Onyemata should be getting more snaps....for health and production purposes.

I agree but depth is always a good thing so it’ll be nice to have Rankins back as an option.

How nasty would our DL be if Rankins never tears his achilles?

We'd have 2018 Rankins (maybe even a bit better) to add to our current plethora of DL options.

Our defense has definitely been struggling in his absence.

Just for reference, I don't know if the grade of the MCL sprain is equivalent, but Nick Chubb had one earlier this season and missed 5 weeks.

Maybe it's my selective memory, but it seems any time a Saints player gets a generic target date to possibly return, they almost always exceed it. It's not hard to imagine Rankins being out 5 weeks.

Even if he could come back this week, I’d keep him out until the Kansas City game. Let him rehab and come back healthy enough for playoffs.
