BR sports guys keep repeating that point. Those of us who remember what it was like before Sean arrived at the Saints, certainly don’t need to be reminded of that fact. But most of us give Dennis Allen more credit than the radio guys in BR

I believe Dennis Allen was Sean's handpicked replacement. I don't think he is running the show, but I guarantee he had a ton to do with DA getting the job and his staff staying in place. No one sets up a culture and a proven winner, like Sean did, and just peaces out and says "I don't care what you do with it."
DA is his legacy. You know Payton wants to have a successful tree of coaches that came from him.

Not sure if you can count a coach who has already been a HC for 3 years as part of your tree. I think you have to be given the coordinator position by the HC, and then become a HC... Not sure on etiquette.

DA had a good press conference imo but I’m under the impression he’s gonna be even more tightly lipped about things than Payton was.

Both CSP and Loomis have said on many occasions over the pat 10 years that they were building not only a championship football team but a culture of winning on New Orleans. One that would last beyond themselves.
I 100% agree CSP gave his recommendation for CDA when he retired and I believe it may have been the plan all along for him to take over at some point when CSP left.

Allen was an assistant from 2006-2010 with the Saints

Doesn't apply here, but it really all depends on the success of the guy.
Lets say BB grabs a former HC, that never worked under him before for a coordinator position, and that guy works there for a few years then gets another HC opportunity. If he's successful the 2nd time around, everyone will be talking about him as part of the tree. If he sucks, they'll point to his previous experience.
But in regards to DA, SP grabbed him from the Falcons to make him a DL coach, he was then secondary coach, and left to be a DC for a year. He gets a HC job and flops, then comes back to SP as DC. He will, and should, be considered part of SP's tree regardless of his success/failures.
