LINK
Sean Payton joined Inside Access with Jason La Canfora and Ken Weinman and discussed his decision to retire from coaching. Payton also spoke about transitioning into media, Calvin Ridley's suspension due to gambling and Jameis Winston.
On the link is a good radio interview of Payton. I take it that he is serious about his media aspirations and seems to have a positive opinion on Winston.

Good. Let go coach again. In a better place.

He`s just like the Cali Liberals who are leaving to go to Texas. He helped create, rebuild NO and supported the Woke Culture then wanted to leave when it went downhill.

Personally I hope he finds success elsewhere.

Its Criminal they blocked him when he wanted out.
That is the true travesty here.

the only way he coaches again is if he fails at broadcasting. He's gonna get an opportunity and will most likely get paid more per year than he ever made as a coach. If he's mildly successful, he'll be there for a long time and never coach again, IMO.

I think if he succeeds in the media world he will stay there at least for a while. I know that if I decided to up root and leave I wouldn't wait around for his opinion. He owes any of us nothing. We owe him nothing. He had a job and he was paid. People act like this is a broken love affair. For the past 16 years this all worked out well for him and worked out well for the team and the City and now it's over.

With all of the hours a coach has to work, a media gig that pays the same should be the final destination for a guy like him.

Can't tell if sarcasm, but how is it criminal that they made him honor his contract? And, as each contract was getting to it's final years, he would negotiate and agree to an extension?

Makes all the sense in the world to not wait around until you're burnt out or fired and go do something for more money and a lot less stress. He left on his own terms, who can blame him?

Its Criminal because the Saints will not recieve any compensation.

Whats the difference. He isnt honoring his contract right now?

During that time, Saints could have traded him off. Got something for him. Promoted Dan Campbell or Dennis Allen.

So now he just "retired" "taking a break"
Basically in a kind way saying Its not me. Its you and Im not coaching for you again ( in the most polite way possible)

I read your post the other way saying it was criminal what the team did to SP. Understand now, and agree

If he's not planning to coach, there should be a buyout clause for his contract. But, if the team executes that, then he can go coach anywhere and the Saints have no say. So, now he gets to say he may not be done coaching, so the Saints have to hold onto the contact and not force the buyout.

This X1000

The Dallas and NY Giants threats were funny.

The NY Giants organization would never hire a HC with sean Payton’s background.

He quit on us

Eff him

Shouldn't you be excited? You whined about Payton after literally every single game.

I believe he had an opt out clause in his contract that he exercised. Payton didn't do anything that Gayle didn't back 100%.
